I am planning on traveling to NZ to ski and backpack/sightsee in August. I hope to spend 4 weeks on the South Island and am looking for suggestions on how to get some skiing and travelling in with regards to equipment etc? What is the best way to travel? I will be flying in from LA or Hawaii and am debating if I should bring my own equipment or rent? What are the best places to ski in August? If anyone has any experience with this, I would love to hear from you. Also, if anyone is going to be doing the same thing - let me know. One idea I had was to rent a camper van or something, that way there would always be a place to leave my equipment. Any advice?

| Heykrizia01- I'm planning the same type of trip. I should be there next week and staying for about a month, mostly on the south island. I will probably be looking for gear and a campervan to rent and possibly someone similarly minded to share a van with (beside my girlfriend who will be coming with me).
