Hi everyone,
It's my first time to post here. I have several questions and would appreciate so much if some of you can share your insights. But first, let me explain my situation:
I went to NZ last March 2004 and visited my sister who is now a candidate for citizenship. They were able to migrate last 2002 also through the smc category. I tried to apply for work as well but it was not successful. Some interviewers called me but they did not want to proceed because I did not have a working visa. So, for you folks opting to do that, think about it really hard first. Unless your occupation is in demand, I would advise you to go through the smc process.
Also, I used a placement agency then, CH placement. They just got our money and ran away. The case that we filed against them in court has not moved since the third hearing. Waste of time really. So do it on your own. The NZIS website has everything you need.
I have now applied for the smc and here are the timelines:
EOI lodged: January 19, 2005
EOI selected: February 2, 2005
Application Successful: August 15, 2005
Now, still waiting for the ITA....
Does it really take this long? My visa officer in Shanghai informed me that an ITA would be sent to me by registered mail. I'm just not sure if it really takes this long.... |

hi arlene,
don't lose hope. In my case, I was selected last Oct 2004 and my status changed only in June... 9 months after being selected. I anticipate it will take me 1.5 years to get my visa. Things are running slow because of the backlogs they have and quantity of applicants.

| If they already sent it trhu registered mail, better check your post office. Sometimes sa post office sa Pinas natatagalan. |

Salamat sa mga response nyo mga frens.. I am sure na na uuna kayo sa akin as far as status is concern. Me,still preparing school and PRC license at NBI for submition pa lang. Kaya nga I was excited earlier to read all your conversations here sa forum na ito kasi makakatulong sa akin.
Sana by this month October 2005 makapag lodge na ako ng application ko for residency. As far as NZ is concern ang sabi doon it will take 3 months lang bago sila mag decide about our application. Pero parang the way na nababasa ko yung post ng iba parang more then 3 months na sila . Tama ba ako ? |

Goodmorning,
I receive mine Sept 15 yung ITA ngayon on the process of completion of all required docs. From Jinky's concern na she still does not have the unterview sched after submission , yun din ang tanong ko kasi , how long will it take na dapat makakuha tayo ng interview sched after na ma i submit ang lahat ? Allocated ang akin sa Bangkok.
Sana may maka pag bigay ng info sa mga concerns natin para mas malinaw ang lahat... |

Hi Alyx,
That would be: original and photocopy or certified true copies of passport, birth certificate, marriage certificate (if applicable), nbi/police clearance, transcripts and qualifications (academic), work employment certificates, medical and xray certificates (august form-see nzis website), employment certificate and birth certificate of your relative if claiming for close family support in nz, completed application form (which would be sent to you)...all these after you pass teh points verification stage before you get your ITA. Best of luck! |
