hi miss sara,

is it important/necessary that work experience should be closely related to course/degree earned? please advise. in my case, i'm a computer engineering graduate but my work experience has nothing to do with computers, i'm into research. malaki problema ko? sana matulungan mo ako for free. thanks. makakatulong ba NZQA?

Hi leo.
In my own opinion, important na related ang qualification mo especially if you're claiming points for work experience and bonus points. I think kung di man related ang work mo sa qual mo, at least yung industry na pinagttrabahuhan mo is.

About NZQA, I'm not sure kung makakatulong. Di ko kasi alam how NZQA evaluates yung magkaiba ang qual and work experience.

Thanks.

Hope this helps.

Regards

Hi Sara,

I have a bachelor's degree and an MBA. If I will apply for a PAR, will there be 2 separate applications, which also means I have to pay NZ$75 for each qualification (total of NZ$150)?

Also, do they really require the grade-point average? Or worst, na denied.

Actually, I'm just waiting for my NZQA full assessment result para ma submit ko na EOI ko. I received their confirmation letter & receit dated Oct. 10, so I assume that they already started their assessment. But I'm worried baka tumagal just as experienced by others in the forum na umaabot ng 8 months. I want to submit my EOI this December (mga 2 months na waiting period ko for the full asessment by that time). So to be sure, I might as well apply for PAR. Do you think I should apply for PAR or just wait for the full assessment? Sayang din NZ$150 for my 2 qualifications. Thanks

Jun

Hi Jun! I would suggest na hintayin mo na lang ang result ng full assessment mo. Tutal, nai-apply mo na pala. Did you include your masters sa full assessment application?

Usually talaga, 1 1/2 to 2 months ang assessment process. So don't worry, I'm sure maipapasa mo ang EOI mo sa target date mo.

Take my case for example, bachelors degree ang pina-assess ko at naka-level 7 na ako.

If you need help sa EOI or other matters, post ka lang dito or PM me. I'll gladly be of help to you - basta sa abot ng makakaya ko.

Goodluck po.

Regards

Hello Sarah!

I have already lodged my application, and am in the process of collating my necessary docs and medical prior to submission to my VO; now I found out na dapat pang ipadaan sa NZQAS mga papel ko, but my wife daw did not get points claimed nuong na accept EOI ko.

My questions is: DO I have to have the full evaluation by NZQAS? My premed schools is covered by the List of Recognized institutions, my medical school was not, but my further studies were done in a recognized institution so paano kaya yun?

Also my wifes qualifications ( shes a nurse, BTW) eh pwede ko din pa-assess ng ma credit na agad sya if ever? If so dalawang assesment babayaran ko kaya nito ( asus, NZ$450 pa naman ang bayad ngayon ++ pa...)

Salamat!!! Shocked

Hi Sara,

Thanks a lot. I'll take your advise. I'll just wait for my NZQA full assessment. I'll give it maximum of 2-1/2 months.

BTW, I called up my bachelor's university today and I was told na nag respond na raw sila sa verification ng NZQA, last Oct. 25 raw nila pinadala back to NZ via registered mail.
Pero when I called up the university for my MBA, wala pa raw silang natatanggap na verification from NZQA (incidentally, this university is listed in the LRQ). Bakit ganon, is it possible na hindi na sila nag verify sa school na yon because its listed in the LRQ? But in the LRQ guide, di ba it was mentioned din that Master's degrees from the listed universities will still need NZQA assessment? I find it illogical naman for NZQA not to send their verification correspondences to my 2 universities at the same time.

Anyway, just in case naman po di nagreply or naligaw ang verification ng NZQA, nagp-follow-up naman sila ulit usually e. If you want, after 20 working days, i-follow-up mo sa Assessing Officer ang status ng application mo. Sasagot namn sila for sure. Goodluck po.

Hope this helps.

Hi peach.
Medyo naguluhan ako sa tanong mo. hehehe. Sorry ha, wala kasi akong masyadong idea sa educ system sa medicine e. Engineering po kasi ang course ko. Anyway, kung magpapa-assess ka naman kasi, I'm sure ang ilalagay mo e yung bachelors and/or masteral degree qualification mo. So most probably, ang ilalagay mong school ay yung school kung saan ka naka-graduate. If it is not included in the LRQ, chances are, NZIS will require you to take the full NZQA assessment.

Hope this helps.

Hi Sara,

I'm worried, tama kaya yung application ko for NZQA full assessment? I intended to have a full assessment for my bachelor and master's degrees. Those 2 qualifications were in my application and I paid NZ$486 (inclusive of return of documents fee). Thanks again.

hi JUN!

you did the right thing in sending all supporting docs for both your bachelors and masteral. kung masteral lang pinadala mo, they wouldve asked for the bachelors anyway, citing that it must be evaluated kasi ito yung "pathway" patungo sa masteral mo.

single payment of $486 lang. parang nakalibre ka sa assessment ng bachelors bec they will assess it just so that they could assess your masteral. (ganun din ang nangyari sa akin. i sent docs for both my b.s. mgt and mba. level 7 and 9 ang assessment nila.)

Very Happy

Guys,

just read the NZQA form; ok granting I have to have a full assesment, no problem. But wait- do I also have to submit my HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA? Considering I finished HS back in 1982 and MD highest degree ko, may relevance pa ba yun? or better yet, mandatory requirement? I'm willing to submit MD and Bachelors data but high school???

any reply will be helpful, thanks!

Hi Jay,

Thanks a lot. I thought I'll have to spend another NZ$486 na naman.

Hi Peachpiz,

It funny talaga but its included in their requirement. I don't know if they give value to it pero mahirap na at baka yun pa ang maging cause ng delay ng assessment result nila. Ako nga ipina-translate ko pa into english kasi in pilipino language high school diploma ko. he3x.

To peachpiz and Jun

No need to worry about submitting your high school diploma...di po ito required sa NZQA. There are some schools kasi na parang may vocational course pa.

Hope this helps.

another tanong ( sorry ha???)- so pag sinubmit ko docs ko for supporting my ITA ( submitted ko na), sabihin ko lang sa VO ko nasa NZQA na papeles ko for their perusal, oks ba yun? or must the NZQA report for my docs also meet the prescribed deadline for my docs sa NZIS?

thanks all!!!
