hi to everyone!
it's my first time to register and to use this website. obviously, i am aspiring the same as what you aspire. please help me decide whether I need to register first as teacher to teachers council,or submit my EOI after the completion. right now, I'm completing the requirements for my EOI, so it's really confusing what to do first, i'm on my own completing the requirements.
please help! i really need your advices. i would gladly accept & appreciate.
thanks!

joly red,
You could start the process simultaneously. If I remember right, an old post from JAP mentioned the different standards as far as teachers are concerned (I think NZ is patterned more after British standards than ours - which evolved from the "Thomasites"). It might not be a straightforward process. You may have to take extra training, etc.
Having said that, maybe you should inquire first on teacher accreditation (ahead of your EOI). Might turn out that if you're really interested to continue teaching, you could first come to NZ as a student, get a teacher's qualification then go from there. I suppose you really need to do your homework on this |

mel,
thanks for replying, i really appreciate it. i will really research about the registration. i'm almost through w/ my EOI; im just waiting for my medical certificate, but if i really need to register first, then i have to postpone the submission. im just so concerned with the consequence/s or the impact that the registration has for the selection of EOI.
thanks so much.

Jolly,
We have a yahoo group member (pinoyz2nz) Piyo who has already undergone teacher registration before she submitted her EOI (well Im not really sure whether its before or after). I'll try asking her for you so she can reply in this thread.
I beleive she is already in the ITA stage having been selected last December.

Hi Jolly,
Nakausap kona si Piyo and she says baka ikaw daw yung nakilala niya sa St. Lukes while having her medicals.
Also, try contacting MissMe because she specializes in teachers. Check out her thread here http://www.backpack-newzealand.com/nz/article451.php or you can just PM her.
Hope that helps...please update us
God bless,
RITA
P.s. hope you wont mind my saying this but maybe you can defer your Masters here and take it in New Zealand when you get there. A Masteral Degree requires an NZQA which might complicate your application. Anyway just ask MissMe whats the best thing to do.
Oh I forgot to add. Please join yahoo groups Pinoyz2NZ so you can ask Piyo there directly. just PM me your yahoo ID and email address |

hi rita!
piyo has sent personal message already. you're right, i was the one whom she met in st. luke's. i had my medical check-up -as in complete- already because that is the new health requirements in EOI.
btw, i sent an e-mail to her although there was a problem i think in sending, i think she has not received yet and so she has not sent any info yet. i'll be contacting her asap.
thanks for your concern.

Hi Joly red,
You mentioned that you had your medical checkup before lodging your EOI. I was told that we will need this later (after ITA). Can u tell me which part of the application u read about it?
We are planning to lodge our EOI before June 22. But no medical checkup yet.
Will wait for your reply.
Thanks for your time |

sxyfreak,
i read from NZIS web that the new health requirements have been changed, so i immediately complied and completed the necessary medical check-up.
i just can't remember which part i read so i can't give you exact information about it.
i'm completing the requirements by myself so i had no one to ask or confirm about this. it's different now because i joined this forum.
i'll just confirm through checking reading again from the NZIS.
i'll give you info asap.
take care!

sxyfreak,
i've checked the Health requirements kit at the same time i read again the new health requirements post. an applicant should follow the new health requirements and must use the new medical & x-ray forms especially philippines is included in the list of countries with high incidence of TB. you might want to check the website and ask someone for confirmation if new applicants must follow. there is no specific information about who must comply
(residence applicants or EOI applicants).

medical exams is not needed in the EOI stage. you have to undergo medicals when you are already Invited to Apply (ITA).

| I think medical results are only valid for 3 months. you have to retake it if after the 3 month expiry. |
