Hello: We plan to be in NZ the last 3 weeks of September and wonder how accessible and comfortable the south island would be. We intend to rent a campervan.
Any Help?

It will be cold and possibly snowing in the center of the island. Whether roads will be closed or not due to snow, well that is any bodies guess. Roads over the passes like Arthurs, Lewis and Lindas are often closed in the winter. So just stick to the coast if the forcast is bad.
