Cost of Living VS Expenses.
Philippines Vs NZ
(Ratio)
Philippines P500 a day.
NZ(Minimum)12.50/HR x 8 = $100 a day.
Gasoline Unleaded, 50 liters
Phil 50 x 49.75 = 2487.5
NZ 50 x 1.99 = 99.5
So Phil(office boy/girl) almost 5 days nyang trinabahu yung pang gas nya.
NZ(Crew sa Mcdo/KFC) almost 1 day nyang trinabahu.
Food Example Beef Steak!
Phil P250/Kilo = half day nyang trinabaho
NZ $12/Kilo = Isang oras trinabaho
Education
La Salle/Ateneo????(3rd world) 100K per sem. plus baon, service at etc.
NZ schools = Free (recognized worldwide)
Medical
Bypass sa puso, surgery etc.
NZ = Free

| While undoubtedly there are so many benefits migrating to New Zealand, the would be migrants (i.e. particularly WTR visa holders), however, will have to face several risks in going here. Not all WTR visa holders are successful and I think the success ratio is around 50% (please correct me if I am wrong). Factors such as the so called NZ work experience, professional registration, day to day expenses while looking for work, new culture etc...will make or break new migrants. To minimise these risks, check and ensure that your skills are employable(i.e. high demand), allocate enough budget while job searching, adapt to Kiwi culture as soon as you can and touch base with Filipino organisations in NZ. If you intend to migrate with your family, it would be better that the principal applicant moves first in NZ to minimise costs and ensure that residency is obtained before bringing the entire family. There are so many sad stories that some families are going back to our country without success. It really hurts. This is not to discourage migrants but going here needs a lot of planning, hard work and prayers. |

Yes, jss63 is correct. All those wonderful benefits people have been telling you comes at a steep price - residency. No residency, no NZ benefits.
Yes, you get all of this and more too - if you can get residency. Filipinos get residency through the skilled migrant category, and the success rate, as jss63 would say, is against us Filipinos. Unless your skills are so technical and desirable, the chances of getting residency is slim to none.
Usually those who was the best chance of success are those is the engineering, agriculture or science industry. As I mentioned previously, a dairy farmer or farm vet in the Philippines have a relatively better chance of making it in NZ as against a high powered corporate executive in those swanky buildings in Makati. |

| Why don't you try to tailor your resume Kiwi style and apply for work? It won't hurt to try and maybe you might get a job offer. If you don't get a job offer then you can ask for inputs as to how to increase your chances. Good luck. |

Nice: No need to pay for check-ups and no hospital fees if your wife/partner (PR status) gives birth.
Not nice: No helper, No yaya. You can ask your parents to come and help you though.
Good for single moms (PR status) who are under gov't benefits. If I'm not mistaken, I think a single mom can receive around NZD$700+/week. |

@Levi : I made a roundtrip booking na and preparing some answers in case ma-interrogate why I made roundtrip instead of one-way. Hopefully, it will fly. Targetting 4-6mos stay in pinas when we come back then will move permanently to NZ. Hopefully, this will work as I have not heard anyone with similar situation. Yes, I'm grateful indeed to get nz residency. Di din biro ang mga tiniis at sinugal namin to get that. I'm glad I'm not alone coz there are other people who have given up much more than what we have to give up...and they succeeded! truly an inspiration to someone like me who is at a crossroad.
thanks for all your sharing! |
