Just want to share my own personal experience with AmDream.
I came to know of AmDream from a newspaper ad. I went to see their office personally and talked about the possibility of migrating to NZ. I started to gather my records but it took me sometime though (since some of them I still have to request from my school). Once completed, they submitted the same for evaluation by NZQA. As soon as the result came (my qualification was comparable to a National Diploma - Level 6) they asked me to prepare to take the IELTS exam. Luckily I got a band score of 6.5 (just enough to make the pass mark). Right after that, they submitted my EOI online (per my request) on Sept. 9, 2004 and got selected on Sept. 15, 2004. My ITA was issued in Dec. 2004. Then I went on with my medical. Submitted my ITA in March 2005 and interviewed last May 5, 2005. Prior to the actual interview, AmDream subjected me to a "mock interview" (as with their other clients)to give me a feel on how the actual interview in Bangkok would be like. Presently waiting for the results. Hope it will be positive.
Based from my experience, the agency was supportive of my application. |

Hi, I'm Michael. Just want to ask regarding your qualification. Your course, school, and work experience. You mentioned you already got selected and I was wondering if your qualification was on the shortlist of new zealand immigration. My wife is a Mass communication graduate and I consulted Sampang Immigration and they told me it is not advisable to apply right now since my wife's qualification is not on the shortlist.
Hope you can help me on this.
Thanks. |

Hi Michael,
I am a graduate of BS in Commerce Major in Accounting. I am also a CPA. I graduated from a university down south which is not included in the list of recognized schools by NZIS. I am working in a leading private Bank based in Makati for the past 13 years as Auditor.
My profession as an Accountant per se is not included in the shortlist but as a bookkeeper is among the occupations in the major groups of the NZ Standard Classification of Occupations. Being a bookkeeper was included under Major Group 3 (Technician and Associate Professional)
Although there is a possibility that I can practise as an Accountant in NZ, however, I need to have my accounting qualifications assessed and accepted by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of NZ and that would require a lot of paperworks. However, I am presently working on it.
Since I graduated from a university not included in the list of recognized universities by NZIS, I needed to have my qualifications (meaning my school records) assessed by NZQA. I went through the full assessment and my BS in Commerce degree was assessed by NZIS as comparable to a National Diploma in Business- Level 6 which has a corresponding 50 points.
In your case, who shall be the principal applicant if ever. Is it you or your wife? Now between the two of you, you have to decide who between you have the best chances of being the principal applicant. This means you have to consider the school (is it included in the recognized universities by NZIS), your degree and your work experience. The work experience is a tricky part. It must be relevant to your qualification.
If you are bent on pursuing to apply for NZ, I suggest that whoever between you two will become the principal applicant, have your qualifications be assessed first by NZQA to have an idea whether your qualifications will pass their evaluation. Of course there is a fee for it. You need not go through the full assessment yet. You can opt to take the Pre-Assessment Result (Preliminary Assessment Report) which is available online from NZQA and assesses your qualification based only on information supplied by you and without seeing the original documents. If you are invited to apply for residence your qualification will then have to be fully assessed by the NZQA.
You can visit http://www.immigration.govt.nz for more details about NZQA. In that site, you can do a quick self assessment just to have an idea if you can make the pass mark.
Likewise, I would like to invite you to join the yahoo support group pinoyz2nz. This group was created by those already in various stages of their applications. A lot that are still in the deciding stage (whether to apply or not) likewise joined. You can raise questions and many are going to help you with it. Tell me your email addy so I can refer you to them for invitation.
Good luck.

Thanks Joel for the info. I have some other questions though. My wife is a MassCom graduate from San Sebastian College (not it the list). Although her experience working for ABS-CBN channel 2 is related to her course, she only worked for 3 years then decided to stop and be full time housewife. On the other hand, I am a graduate of Biology from Manila Central University (also not in the list), I have two years of teaching science subjects for high school and and after that worked for ABS-CBN for the next 8 years. The question is who has the better chance of being accepted for immigration? Do you know of any migrant or applicant with a similar case like and still been selected to apply?
Sorry for the long query. I want to have answers from people like us who are applying for migration or people who are there already. Rather than have some stranger-consultant (businessman) answer my question.
Hope you or somebody from this forum can help me before NZ Government raises up the points qualification.
Thanks in advance. |

Hi,
From the look of it, it would seem that your wife has the better chance of being the principal applicant considering that her work experience is directly related to her course. But how long ago was this 3 years experience...
On the other hand, your experience (teacher) may also be considered for some points.
Have you tried reading the other messages in this forum or in some other topics about NZ here? Perhaps there are others who posted there with similar situation like yours.
For me, still the best way to know whether both you and your wife's qualification is acceptable is thru assessment by NZQA. The very least, you can try the PAR. Do not lose hope.
I suggest you join the yahoo support group I mentioned in my previous mail. Perhaps you may be able to meet someone who is of similar case like yours. Or you may get some pointers from other applicants too.
Good luck, |

hi there,
thanks. i was also amazed on how fast my application went through. as i posted earlier, i was interviewed on May 5, 2005. I was invited to apply for WTR on May 27, 2005. i finally lodged my WTR on July 8, 2005. my visa was issued on july 20, 2005. i received my passport the following day, July 21, 2005.
i can only think that MAYBE the possible reasons were:
- my documents were complete (ielts/nzqa) when i lodged my eoi. unlike others that opted for certifications on english and PAR. yung iba kasi despite the certs and PAR, they were still asked to take ielts and assessment by NZQA, and that takes time.
- only one VO (Ms. Kamonrat)handled my case throughout. with that, she was already familiar with my details from eoi to ita to wtr. hence, she need not go over my details again to verify.
-the fiscal year (2004 to 2005) was about to end during the time my wtr was processed. i presumed, they were in a rush to beat their deadlines, kaya siguro naprocess ng maaga since ala na siya masyado i-verify dahil familiar na nga siya sa case ko. (call it right timing)
-i think during our batch (2004-2005) the number of applicants may not have swelled to so great a number. i think by the end of fiscal year 2004-2005, they have already received numerous applications, hence if you noticed, by July 2005 (start of fiscal year 2005 - 2006), Bangkok timelines on the processing of applications alloted to their Branch was quite longer now.
other than that, i can't think of other explanations.
yun nga lang, i was actually expecting na medyo delayed konti ang visa ko which i believe okay na din since di naman ako makaalis agad. kaso, dumating too early. at any rate, andito pa ako sa pinas. sa jan 2006 pa effectivity ng resignation ko from my current work. yun kasi ang pakiusap ng boss ko na tapusin ko lang ang taon for them to have enough time to train and find a replacement for me.
i will be leaving for NZ by Feb. 2006 siguro.
if you have further questions, feel free to ask. would be glad to help.
likewise, i would like to invite you to join another support group for people interested to go to NZ. mabuti din yung madami kang makunan ng mga tips and other things of importance sa case mo.
just inform me if interested.
cheers. |

| sayang ang pera sa agency. me, i cut their services. i believe i can do it with the help of this forum and pinoyz2nz group... when i received the ita from my agency which i paid 40K to them alone, i got all the necessary docs and submitted it to my VO and i have received the acknowledgement just yesterday. well it's up to you whether you want the assistance of the agency or not. |

Good day Southern_sky! Maybe you're right. You applied in a right place, right people and right time. In other words you applied in a good timing. May I ask something from you, did you just stick with american dream service throughout the process? Another thing, how did you managed to acquire information regarding your Visa Officer? If you already arrived on EOI verification, is it automatic to have a Visa Officer that will handle your papers? By the way, Southern_sky don't forget me when you are already in New Zealand in 2006. I really need your help. Hope I will be like you someday. Anyway, would you be kind enough to share your experiences during your interview with your Visa Officer?
Thanks in advance Southern_sky!
May God Bless You most especially during your up coming trip to NZ! |

Hi,
So sorry for the delayed reply. I don't surf the net more so often. Yes, I sticked with ADICI till the whole thing was done. Regarding my VO, I just asked ADICI who was handling my case and they told me her name. However, I left it to ADICI to handle everything since they had started it. Besides, I really can't focus my time on my application since I am quite busy with my job. Once your EOI has been acknowledged as received by the EOI team, they will allot your EOI to a visa officer. Sometimes, it is not immediately since that would depend on the availability of the VO to handle your case. However, once they had it, it will surely be assigned to a VO.
Just be patient. Immigration process is not just a wink of an eye. Sa Canada nga, ilang years kang maghihintay bago ma-process ang papers. lalo na sa US. Just make sure that you have prepared your documents properly and all the requisites were properly complied with para smooth sailing ang application mo. Feel free to ask if you need some clarifications. Likewise, keep yourself updated by inquiring from ADICI for any development. Also, once in a while check out the website of NZIS for any update that may affect your application.
Good luck. |
