1) If my wife will be granted a WTR to enter New Zealand since she is the main applicant, does that mean I will be given the same thing too, and have the right to look and apply work in New Zealand?

2) Suppose, I'm the first one to land the job since my field of work is highly demanding in New Zealand, can she transfer the application to me instead, and apply all the necessary documents under my name.

Please a little clarification here. Thanks.

1. Yes, you get a work visa.

2. No, there is no such thing as a "transfer of application." If she does not get skilled work, your current application will be denied. If you get skilled work then the best case scenario is you get a new work visa which is longer in duration, with you as principal applicant and your wife as secondary applicant. This might enable you to apply for a new residency application with you as a principal applicant. So you pay for eoi, medical, ielts, nzqa etc again if necessary.

Levi,

Thanks, but don't you think that it will take time again for me to grant my application?( i mean till the WTR or the PR will be released) , the possibility is that I already finished the 3 years work visa permit and yet my application for immigration is still on progress.

Yes, it is possible. However, based on personal experience and experience of other friends, they get residency within a year (9 to 12 months) when they apply it in Auckland and the job is highly skilled and in the shortage list. Before the recession, the timeline was 6 months.

Thanks Levi. Again, I've heard that the applicant's have only 9 months to land for a job relative to his application under SMC. How true is it that the applicant's duration to look for a job is only 9 months + the 3 months from the date of issued of the WTR.

Hope you can enlighten me about this issue.

Yes, NZ immigration does not grant straight permanent residency. They did grant residency right away but that was ages ago, before NZ became a popular destination of choice for migrants.

From what I understand of current policy, yes you get 9 months (plus 3 months) to look for skilled work related to your skills. No skilled work, no residency.
