well, yes, but i'm d researcher & d driving force behind d application Laughing

** it is your partner who should do all the research in answering all the "scary" questions.

all the same, if I don't brief the PrinApplicnt right, both of us fail Sad

**You mentioned your partner is in the education industry. Have you made research on job climate, salary or the necessity or registering with a guild or association before being a teacher?

fortunately, tertiary level needs no registration, but unfortunately, there's less demand and greater competition at the tertiary level. there have been discussions on this forum about the priority given to phd's w/ lengthy research and those from prestigious univs abroad for professor wannabes. but there's a glimmer of hope too for checking out allied fields. Thankfully, the job is listed in the LTSSL.
**Where in NZ do you plan to settle and why? Has the principal applicant tried to apply for jobs? Why or why not?

we intend to start the journey and launch the jobsearch from Taranaki where a relative is willing to host us, will be open to go to other areas where opportunity is.

Now, I FAILED to coach the P-App to search jobs before the interview, of course we surfed seek, trade me, etc but did not actually submit an application. I assumed that applications from abroad wont be taken seriously, unless you have WTR or are in NZ. And, the P-app is currently so immersed in his present work Confused

**Don't panic.
Surprised Confused Embarassed the interview happens to be scheduled next week!

Now you know what to research. It's not too late to apply for jobs on behalf of your P-applicant.

Good luck.

PAGING, SNAPPER, Attention Snapper!
Kumusta interview nyo? That was last oct 25 right? Well we had ours 30mins ago, whew. Sakto yun mga tinanong, like what do you know about the job climate in nz? your employment prospects? ave wage for your profession? aside from those listed in the interview invitation. Well, we dont know if we satisfactorily answered the VO's questions, dasal na lang kami. But the VO was very cordial naman, and I noticed this VO has an Excellent work ethic - she promised to email her decision in 5 DAYS!

Well, kami naman we're prepared to accept whatever the decision will be, malulungkot lang kung di tulad ng inaasam, pero God's will parin ang masusunod. Good luck to us and to all of you. Cool

Kabayan,

Mainit pa ha, katatapos nyo lang. That was a relief. I am very happy na finish na kayo, and waiting na lang kayo sa inyong result with the VO.
Mine, we are supposed to have interview on the Oct 25, but since its election day, I requested for a postponement, but a new schedule is set on Nov 5.
My immigration consultant keep on insisting that we should go for the scheduled interview, but we really opt to get interviewed on December. They said they are going to relay it to the VO bout my requested date.
The problem with these consultant is that they after only for the fee from the service that they are rendering to us. They do not care whether your application will fall in good timing or not.
Malay natin next year mag okay na ang situation sa NZ, kaya nga kahit sa papaanong paraan eh hinahanapan ko na madelay pa ang application namin ng wife ko, tutal nde naman pa kami nagmamadali.
Opinion ko lang nmn.

Cheers

Attention kabayan,

Have you read boyfriday's post?

btw, mahirap talaga ang trabaho dito ngayon, actually simula nung recession late 2008 up to now, halos hindi nagbago.and totoo yung nasa mga blogs, kahit HR practitioners, most prefer to hire under-skilled/ unskilled na local kesa bigyan ng chance ang mga skilled na immigrants. fact of life yan dito sa nz ~ "kiwi first".

pero not all gloomy naman. once you get a job, unless ma redundant ka na hindi na madalas ngayon, eh madali ka naman ma-a accept ng mga pipol within the company. most people are actually really nice and goes out of their way na kausapin ka (although nature din talaga nila na maingay at matanong!) hehehe....

Smile Embarassed Confused ATTN SNAPPER and the kindred forum souls, we GOT our WTR invite today, December 1!!!! I'm overwhelmed! So much to do,kailangan maka holdup ng bangko Wink and anong drama kaya gagawin ko to tell my boss Shocked ?
Seriously, i understand that this phase will just level up the agony a notch higher, as described by boyfriday, but yun na nga,we have to gear up for the challenge, with a ton of prayers.
At this point, kahit midway pa lang,i give credit to the forum for guiding us from EOI to WTR without any agency and without any consultation fee - isang tao na naman natulungan nyo, bilang yan ni San Pedro balang araw Smile

Congratulations. Now the real work begins, all the best.

Also, try to arrive here around mid-Jan or Feb since a lot of businesses close up for the Christmas holidays, which is summer here. No use arriving early and just twiddling your thumbs coz no one is open. Since this is the summer season, expect flights to be a tad expensive.

Have you started looking for possible accommodations?

Thank you for wishing us well.

Our extended relative is kind enough to host our arrival/ beginning stay in Taranaki.

Kindly confirm if my understanding is correct:

Having received the WTR invite Dec.1, we are given 3 months to send in the requirements,(passports, accomplished wtr forms, certified true copies of evidence of funds (e.g. bank draft) outward ticket or evidence of funds for purchase of outward ticket. I also plan to send credit card info (protecting vital codes) w/ corresponding credit limits, if that will help. The deadline for sending all these is March 1, 2011. So that leaves them approx 2 weeks to send back the stamped passports, so we might be looking at mid to late March 2011. Upon receipt of passports with wtr visas, how long are you allowed until you enter NZ?

Thanks again for your much valued advice.

I will refer you to the pertinent provisions of the NZIS Operations Manual:

WR5 Work to Residence (Skilled Migrant Category) Instructions

a. Principal applicants under the Skilled Migrant Category (SMC) who have been assessed by an immigration officer as having demonstrated they can realise their potential to successfully settle in and contribute to New Zealand, may be granted a work visa and entry permission for the purpose of obtaining an offer of ongoing skilled employment in New Zealand.

b. Principal applicants may be granted a work visa allowing a stay of nine months (refer WR6) if the requirements set out at WR5 (c), (d), (e) and (f) below are met.

c. An application for a work visa must be made within three months of the date of the letter from INZ advising that the principal applicant may be eligible for the grant of that work visa.

d. Applicants must provide evidence that they have sufficient funds to maintain themselves and any accompanying family members for a period of at least three months in New Zealand, such funds being:
i (if they have pre-paid accommodation) a sum of NZ$400 per person, per month; and
ii (if they do not have pre-paid accommodation) a sum of NZ$1,000 per person per month.

e. Applicants must also provide evidence that they have sufficient funds to purchase an outward ticket from New Zealand for themselves and any accompanying family members.

f. Work visas granted under these instructions will allow work for any employer in New Zealand.

WR5.5 Currency of Work to Residence visas

a. Applicants who are in New Zealand and who made their Skilled Migrant Category (SMC) application on or after 10 April 2007 may be granted a visa and entry permission allowing a stay of nine months in New Zealand.

b. Applicants who are not in New Zealand and who made their SMC application on or after 10 April 2007 may be granted a Work to Residence visa and entry permission with the following conditions:
i first entry to New Zealand must be made within 3 months of the visa being granted; and
ii the visa will allow work and multiple entries to New Zealand for 9 months from first arrival.

Link to the above provisions: http://www.immigration.govt.nz/NR/rdonlyres/0ADBFDA3-EFEB-4638-B6AB-896C7851C36B/0/TemporaryEntry.pdf - on pages 238 and 239

If my understanding of the above is correct, then your understand is correct. However, the Operation Manual mentions evidence of sufficient funds good for three months only. I am unsure if that is the case with you since this Manual was updated last fortnight. Better ask your Visa Officer.

This is the most important clarification, and reliable source too.

We find this reassuring as i previously worried that one must leave in 3months after receipt of the WTR invite. It's in 3 months after receipt of the WTR visa pala. Censya na,row 4 tayo, he he.
God bless and all the best.
