To those in NZ,
May I ask If November and December is freeze-hiring month? I am currently awaiting my WTR visa, and expecting to receive it by end of October. Since I will be holding a 6-month visa only, I am really pressured with time. If i arrive NZ by mid of November, would I have chances of getting a job by December? By the way, I am a Food Technologist. I am really confused whether I go to NZ by November or should I postpone it to January. My worries in going to NZ by January is that I will have 4 months to have skilled employment and convert it to PR. Please, i need some advise. Many thanks! |

hi mhay,
medyo lean season na talaga ang november and especially december when it comes to job vacancy... but since you're in a 6 months visa, i guess (in my opinion) it is still better for you to go here and scout for a job... there could be some job that might interest you and there could be some company looking for people in your field... if ever you will not get the related job you're after on these months at least you will gain the "kiwi experience" which you may use later on (january) in finding you're related job...
we actually experienced this situation coz we arrived here last year (dec.1)... and i have to work first in a department store till i got a better job after 2 months... at least i was able to adapt to the kiwi work environment before i actually work in a office... it is also wise to scout for a job in the internet before you go here... just indicate in your cover letter your status (visa) and when you intend to arrive here... hope this helps...
cheers |

Thanks Tolitz! It was such a good advise, a first-hand experience. By the way, will there be available odd jobs during November-December season? I would really like to find work, even temporary jobs, as soon as I arrive NZ.
I have sent almost 30 applications to different companies in NZ, stating that my tentative arrival is October, but still no positive reply yet. They all prefer those in NZ already. Though there are some consultancy firm that were really encouraging and would like to meet me for a face to face interview as soon as I arrived NZ, so Im keeping my hopes high that I will find skilled employment before ny visa validity ends. Hope you can also share some more tips. Again, many thanks to you Tolitz! |

hello....
may good news ako...from my flatmate eto...PR na rin siya..i mean she just received her pre approved...i mean the vo is asking her to submit passport and migrant fee (the receipt i think)...
to all backpackers who attended the 2nd meeting in my place..you know her( si CAthy)...GOD IS REALLY SO GOOD...AND WITH HIM NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE....
tolitz,sesame,kunday,lollies,popsy...at sa lahat nga na umatend..you know her story..we were there...sharing and eating...remember???
SO PRAISE THE LORD...AND CONTINUE TO THANK HIM...PRAISE HIM...PRAY TO HIM...HE WILL GIVE IT TO US..IN HIS TIME...BE PATIENT...
For my application, second time na akong nag follow up (kasi nag 1 month na this week...) pero same answer...wala pa ring naka assign na case manager (kasi nga yong dating case manager naka assign sa akin..nag resign na...)
GODBLESS,,,

to mhay,
yes, there's a lot of odd and not so during november-december... that's because a lot of locals (kiwis) are going on a holiday during these months, some companies are looking for people on a casual/temporary basis to fill in the position of these people... this will drag on til around mid-january... just keep on applying thru internet and you'll never know there could be one out here who might be interested to get you... keep your hopes alive, always remember PINOY KA... and most importantly pray for GOD's guidance and blessing...
cheers...
and to my friend corex,
tama ka dyan sister corex... GOD IS REALLY GOOD... sobra-sobra talagang blessings ang natatanggap namin sa kanya... and we praise and thank him for that...
di ko pa sana i-broadcast but since you started it already, then it think i owe it also to my friends here to share my experience as well... i just got an email from my case officer informing me that our application for PR has been finalized... she was actually asking for my children's passport para sabay-sabay na matatakan... so tawag agad kami sa pinas sa in-laws ko to tell them to send the kid's passports asap... she said that the process of labelling (yung ang tawag nya) will take about 20 days... so eto sobra sobra saya at excited na sana dumating na agad passport ng mga anak ko so i can send it to her asap...
it seems like dumadami na ang nabibigyan ng PR since one of our friend got a letter (approved in principle) as well... tapos yan pang kay cathy... congrats cathy...
and for those who's still waiting like my friends corex, sesame, wewel and others, darating na din yan... dadagan pa natin ang dasal... sabi nga nung isang bro. namin...
A MAN'S PRAYER IS GOD'S WEAKNESS
hoping that this sharing of experiences will somehow lift the spirit/morale of all those Pinoys still waiting for their dream PR...
cheers |
