yesterday we had a bad weather, as in ulan ng ulan buong araw and the wind was also strong... so tip ulit dun sa mga papunta dito, don't forget to bring your umbrellas, raincoats and other rain gears (siguro hindi na bota, di naman siguro bumabaha dito)... and also kung may mga extra time pa kayo dyan to spend, i suggest you learn some haircutting, manicure, pedicure etc...at least di na kayo magbabayad if you need get one...

ka ernie, musta na ba??? tuloy na tuloy ka na ba on 17 feb??? just let me know kung whats your eta and bale what day...just email me, regards to esmi and the kids...

ej, mukhang nasabihan ka na ng your application is approved ha, did they say finalized or approved??? kasi baka finalizing pa lang yan, anyway kung naka-received ka na ng e-mail or you've talked to them about it and sabi nila it on it's way na. It will probably be in your hands in less than a week. congrats na lang in advance. d b may agent ka din?

Hi Tholitz,

Thanks for the tips, will definitely bring some raincoats and probably umbrella. Yes, I'm definitely leaving this Feb. 17, I already have my ticket. Kinukumpleto ko na yung things to bring ko at malaking tulong mga tips dito sa blog natin. Email kita regarding my itenarary. Meron pa bang bakanteng room dyan sa place mo? If none, do you know other places where I can get one? Pasensya na wala pa kasing ako place na tutuluyan dyan. Hi daw sabi ni Cris kay Eileen. Si Cris pala kukuha ng short course re hair cutting, etc. just as you advised. Sige email nalang tayo. Bye.

tolitz,
last december I emailed my VO and she told me that my application was already reviewed and recommended for approval, and this january she told that it was finalized wait na lang daw ng tracking tru dhl, pero two weeks ago na hanggang ngayon ala pa rin. sabi naman nila deadline daw nila hanggang end ng feb at pwedeng mapaaga, sana..... nakakawalang gana talaga.... yah my agent din kami, but we do follow-up in our own.
mukhang hiyang ka na dyan tolitz ha.... Very Happy san banda nga pala ang tinutuluyan mo ngayon?

ej, if they say you can track in dhl, did they give you the tracking number??? kung meron na, that means that they already sent your passport and you need to follow it up with dhl...kung wala naman then you really have to wait til the time they say which is end of feb...but i suggest na pag wala pa ng mid feb, that you contact them again and ask... wag kang mawalan ng gana, dapat nga excited ka na dahil at least my assurance na... cge just keep us posted on whats next... i'm living here in north shore, siguro mga 20-30 minutes away lang sa city... maganda ding tumira dito kasi maganda environment saka dami pinoy who's willing to help you.

sesame, basta pagdating mo dito sagot kita...don't worry, ako mismo sundo sa iyo... nagdra-drive na nga ako dito kaya lang di akin yung car, hiram lang (HEHEHE)... medyo nakakapanibago kasi righthand nga... pero siguro later on masasanay din tayo... the other day nga i drive myself to airport kasi may interview ako kaya kahit kikabahan ako, sige lang drive... about the accomodation, di ko pa nakausap landlord ko pero don't worry siguradong may titirhan ka dito pagdating mo...

OK GUYS TIL NEXT TIME

hi to all!

Feels like it has been ages since we last posted here. We are already here in Auckland. My husband arrived Jan 5 and I on the other hand arrived Jan 24. New Zealand welcomed me with a strange weather. Its summertime but its raining and the winds are quite strong. Somewhat like a Signal No.1 typhoon, but it only starts to get dark here at around 9pm though my husband said getting dark at around 9pm during summer is normal here.

We are staying at Papatoetoe (pronounced as Papatowitowi) near East Tamaki. East Tamaki is probably the haven of manufacturing industry down here, so many plants and factories situated alongside each other like mushroom sprouts. Well its not going to be called East Tamaki industrial area for nothing, right? so it probably is the haven if you're into manufacturing. Although there can also be lots of other industrial areas situated all over Auckland bcoz when we passed through Otahuhu while on a bus, we saw another industrial area. only i failed to check out the name of that place. Fletcher
Manufacturing which is quite famous has rows of factories there.

I have likewise probably found the contact person who offers the lowest charges when it comes to sending money to the phil. from new zealand and vice versa. They only charge 5nzd and additional 100php for metromanila banks and 110php for provincial banks (though you have to confirm directly to them what specific provinces are included as i have not asked them elaborately about this). As you see, this is a bank to bank transaction. you will deposit the amount you want to send plus 5nzd to their ANZ account but before depositing, they will give you your personal reference number, just a way for them to know that you are the one who deposited that kind of amount(sort of like your id#). They are a filipino couple based in Wellington.

Jek and Lani Mendoza
mobile # 0276004648
(if you're in manila +64276004648 or 0064276004648)

Just mention I referred them to you coz they might get suspicious on how you got to know of their contact numbers without mentioning me. My name by the way is REMIE (a.k.a Mrs.Allan).

Okay, thats about it for now. Best wishes and goodluck to all of you!

1 cmb should be 8 balikbayan boxes not 4 boxes; you might want to send more of your things. Very Happy

Cheers!

hi uno, i don't want to be nasty but 1 cubic meter is 8 boxes of 20"x20"x20" (or 0.50meter x 0.50meter x 0.50meter) box. one balikbayan box is 0.5x0.5x0.5 = .125 cubic meter; therefore, 1 cubic meter divided by .125 cubic meter is equal to 8 balikbayan boxes..got that. i am in an engineering business Very Happy. anyway, i got my things delivered here in NZ by another feight company and they admit their mistake in computing 1 cubic meter as equal to just 4 balikbayan boxes. Cheers! Very Happy

hi to all!

I have good news for all of those who are bound for auckland anytime soon and are looking for a cheap temporary accommodation. our landlady (who is a filipina married to an austrian and has migrated here for more than a decade now) has two more spare bedrooms for rent. here are the more important details: if you are single, it would only cost you 100nzd per week but if you have a partner, the rent cost would be 140nzd per week. Now, if that is not cheap, then i dont know what is. Free electricity, telephone, washing machine and internet usage. The Accommodation is available up to end of March. The house is fully furnished with two kitchens, two bathrooms and is located at Papatoetoe, just 12-15 minutes ride from the airport. The suburb shops, banks, clinics, bus station, train station and supermarket is just a park away (what a view)from the house, around 10-15 minutes walk.

You can call Angie, our landlady from 7am-10am or 8pm onwards nz time. please be aware of the time difference, we are 5 hours ahead here. her mobile# is (64)0211320031 and her landline# is (09)2777179 or for more but not so urgent inquiries, just post a message here, im daily using the internet anyway. you see, im a parasite as of the moment(but only by circumstance, definitely not by virtue, hehe) as i dont have a job yet but am already looking for one.

my husband already got a permanent job, actually this is his second job since arriving last jan.5. he only worked for a week on his first job then transferred when he got a permanent job offer. God is truly helping us every step of the way. Allan met this filipina (whom to us was an angel sent in human form) by accident at the Britomart train station. Her name is Lolet, she is a teacher and she was the one who introduced us to Angie who was coincidentally looking for filipino tenants at that time. Angie's husband, Gunter is likewise working in the manufacturing industry like Allan. We met the right persons at the right place and at the right time. Again, if that is not a miracle, then i dont know what is(hehe, kulit ko no?).

Papatoetoe is probably a 45 minutes ride (take the bus express) from Auckland Central Business District so if you are concerned of the distance, i think the cheap accommodation would compensate for the travel expenses you will have to incur if you need to go to the city. do keep in mind that this is just a temporary place to stay on your first few weeks here while job hunting. anyway,i think it would probably not be a necessity to go daily to the city. you just have to plan all the things you have to accomplish like filing of IRD, opening bank accounts, and sightseeing. you can do all that in a day. applying for jobs are mostly done by email. besides, if you need to travel to a lot of different places in a day by bus, then just buy an all day bus ticket which only cost 10nzd. that ticket would allow you to ride the bus as often as you want in a day. when you already got a permanent job, that would then be a good and perfect time to look for a permanent place to stay. of course, one that would be near the location of your work.

Okay, again thats about it for now. I hope we could be of help in our own small way through this. Goodluck to all of you yearning for a new life here in NZ!

Remie/Mrs.Allan
