hi!

Am just wondering if you have a job offer since you were given a WTR application without the NZQA assessment report so that your qualification can be recognized and given points by NZIS?

I also have a pending immigrant application. I graduated from UST which is a recognized school. However, i did not claim points for my husband recognized qualification since his school (PUP) is not listed among the schools recognized.

Do you think NZIS will require me to get NZQA for my husband so i can get it at this early?

Hope to hear from you. thanks.

hello jvic!

how many weeks did it take you to get your NZQA assessment report? i was reading through the post and found out that you also graduated from PUP!

i actually have my WTR application already and one required document is the NZQA report! i told my VISA officer, i'll pass it once i have it.

i sent my NZQA application last March 2005. i'm sill waiting for the result. the NZQA officer handling my case told me (this June 2005) that they're still waiting confirmation from my univeresity (PUP) regarding my degree. hmmm. did your NZQA application took this long too?

If you're the principal applicant and you don't intend to claim points for your husband, there is no need for you to get NZQA assessment of your husband's qualification.

Hello,

I received my WTR application and I plan to submit it soon. I wrote about it in my blog, if anyone's interested:

Jessie, Good on you! and good luck. The job market in general is doing well but normally as December approaches, jobs in IT decreases. Pagkatapos it will tend to pick up again after summer. (This is based on what I heard from veteran IT peope). So if you don't mind coming in during the tail-end of winter (or early spring), you may catch a better job market.

Thanks, everyone, but I want to have the visa stamped on my passport before I start Laughing jumping up and down.

Of course, thanks to everyone on this forum who shared their experience. Good luck to all of us. Wink

(To Trishamae: Maybe you are mistaking me for another "Jess", maybe Jesselyn?)

Congratulations to Jesse and to all who are waiting for the awaited Magic Stamp Smile

I just have one question regarding the WTR visa. Snooze said that in order to obtain a PR status a WTR holder should only work for 3 months in NZ (if that person originally applied for PR). Does this mean that he/she should only apply for a job that is in line with the profession that he/she indicated on her EOI (the work experience that is related to the his/her skilled employment). Or can that person apply for any professional job even if it is not related to the one she/he indicated on his/her EOI and still earn the PR after 3 months? thanks guys!

Hi kateocampo, thanks too!

From what I remember, the only requirement is that the job must be a real full-time job with a real company. After you've worked for 3 months and re-applied for a PR, the NZIS will investigate if your job meets all their requirements.

Based on that, it doesn't have to be related to your declared work experience.

Source:
New Zealand Immigration Service Operations Manual
Issue Date: 4 July 2005

SM20.15 Grant of residence following deferral
Effective 17/12/2003

If a visa or immigration officer is satisfied that a principal applicant* has become established in ongoing skilled employment for a period of at least three months during the two-year deferral period the principal applicant* will be assessed as having demonstrated an ability to settle in and contribute to New Zealand and will have their application for residence under the Skilled Migrant Category approved.

If, on the expiry of the two year deferral period, a principal applicant* has not provided evidence that satisfies a visa or immigration officer that they have become established in ongoing skilled employment in New Zealand, the principal applicant* will be assessed as not having demonstrated that they can realise their potential to successfully settle in and contribute to New Zealand and the application for residence under the Skilled Migrant Category will be declined.

SM7.10 Skilled employment
Effective 13/12/2004

Skilled employment is employment that requires considerable specialist, technical or management expertise:
obtained through the completion of recognised qualifications; or
obtained through work experience that has enabled a person to gain a comparable level of skill to that which would have been gained through the completion of a relevant recognised qualification; or
developed through work experience in which that expertise was a key component.

SM7.10.1 Assessment of whether employment is skilled
Effective 13/12/2004

An offer of employment or current employment in New Zealand will therefore be assessed as skilled if:

A.
it is relevant to the principal applicant's* recognised qualification; and
it requires considerable specialist, technical or management expertise; or

B.
the employer considers, and the NZIS is satisfied, that the employment requires considerable technical, specialist or managerial expertise that the principal applicant has obtained through relevant previous work experience in which that expertise was a key component; and
that employment is in an occupation listed at Appendix 11; or
the level of expertise required for that employment is comparable with the level of expertise required for one of the occupations specified in Appendix 11; or
the employment will contribute to New Zealand's future growth and skill base; or
the employment of the principal applicant in that occupation will enhance the quality of New Zealand's accomplishments and participation in that occupational area because the principal applicant* has an international reputation and record or excellence in that field.

Note: Where necessary, officers will consult with relevant industry bodies to determine the level of skill required for a particular employment position.

Hey snooze, thanks for posting that.

I've been searching for that in the NZIS website, but I couldn't find it. Salamat!
