Hi guys,
As you may have heard by now, NZIS Bangkok is in hot waters for allowing the entry of Saddam Hussein's allies. I want to know if your application is in anyway affected by this. I am about to pay for our flight books for our May 26 interview. I’m not sure if I should wait for awhile before I proceed with the payment.

NZ Immigration Service in Bangkok to be run down
Prime Minister Helen Clark told TV One today there would be action resulting from last week's news that officials from Saddam's regime were living in New Zealand.
"We weren't happy with the performance (of the New Zealand Immigration Service offices in Bangkok) at all and that's why there are going to be a few changes."
Asked whether it would be necessary for Immigration Service "heads to roll" over the affair, Mrs. Clark said,
"Obviously…some people in Bangkok will lose their jobs because when we bring the processing of a lot of the high risk applications back from there to New Zealand, there will be jobs here and not there.
"I've been pushing immigration ministers for the past two years to follow the Australian precedent and bring a lot of the offshore processing back to New Zealand." |

Hi everyone,
I also have read the articles about the Bangkok Immigration Office and I think this maybe the cause of the delays in the processing of our applications. We've been selected last Oct 13, 2004 and up to now we are not yet invited. Can you imagine, we're waiting for our ITA for almost seven months now. Hey, anybody who has the idea why we are waiting for so long? Please help.... |

| hi mrlove thanks for your reply. our eoi was lodged through an immigration consultant, have you heard sampang immigration consultancy? I am getting upset already by the slow processing of our application. I have lots of job opportunities that passed because I always think that we are migrating very soon. So depressing isn't it. |

hi tess,
I am in the same boat as you are. My EOI was selected Oct 13. No ITA yet....I've called NZ directly and they said my application was still being processed in Bangkok.
My friend who's working for the NZ government says that there's a lot of backlog in the EOI processing so expect delays but he said delays might not be that long since they havn't met the targets yet.
Keeping our fingers crossed. Good luck to all of us! |

thanks kirk123, at least now I know that I am not alone in this plight. We just have to pray much harder and hope for the best. |
