Tramping in July/August

I am currently working in Far North Queensland. I will be coming to New Zealand mid-July and we be in the country approximately 1 month (due back to Canada mid-August). I really want to do a couple tramps while im in NZ even though it's winter. Being from the mountains in British Columbia, I am somewhat experienced with winter hiking and winter camping plus I am definetely climatized for the cold. I am looking for anyone planning to do a tramp during this period that I could possibly join. I am willing to plan my trip around being at a location for a tramp whenever needed.
