Yes, because there are no more booklets available from the DFA in the Philippines for new passports.

DFA is not stupid.

you need to go to personally to Welly because they need to take your picture, maybe scan your fingerprints and biometrics etc..
Since they are now issuing E-passports with microchip.
Same procedure when you apply for an epassport in Manila that requires you to make personal appearance.

Okay di ba ? epassport na. At par with other 1st world countries

At par with the 1st world??nah...u must be joking bro. my partner had to pay DFA NZ$40 just to verify her signature for her new passport, and it only took them less than 5 minutes to do it...thats daylight robbery!!!then it took 7 weeks in total for her to receive the said passport. is that 1st world to you? in addition, she had to send 3 courier bags at $7 each (thats NZ$21) + 1 long folder to the DFA because, as they say, the passport needs protection when sending from the phils. which is so contrary to the fact, as when we received it, its inside the plastic courier bag w/ no protection at all!

So can I say now that the DFA is stupid too?

Count your blessings you received the passport. The Takapuna office are not anymore receiving passport application, and people will now bear the additional discomfort and cost of trooping to Wellington.

Im talking about the E-passport itself na at par with other countries, dahil konti pa lang ang mga bansa na gumagamit ng epassport...

As for the process of renewal itself and the 40nzd signatur verification eh agree ako na medyo mahal ang singil.

As for the long folder, I think that is protection for the application form itselft kapag pinadala sa pilipinas para di magusot..Napakalaki naman ng long folder kung protection para sa kapirasong passport.

para sa courier bag oks na sa akin ang magbayad ng 3x na bag, para di na ako pumunta ng Wellington. Sa computation ko eh mas matipid nun pumunta ako ng Auckland consulate dati to renew my passport. Less gastos kesa magbayad ako ng airfare to welly or magdrive ng 10 oras...

as for the processing times, sa pinas accdng sa website eh 3 weeks, pero sa dami daw ng nagpaparenew ng passport eh inaabot ng higit 3 weeks. For me 6 weeks waiting time is acceptable considering na sa Pinas pa pinanapagawa mismo ang mga passport from NZ.

The next best thing is dapat me Epassport processing na din sa Auckland consulate, kasi bulk naman ng pinoy sa NZ eh nasa auckland area.
