Hi everyone,
My husband is already in NZ, still looking for a job. He's been applying on line but up to now no positive reply. there are few who told him na for review.
Is it really hard for new migrant to find a job. Our visa (kids and I) will be expired soon, kaya medyo stress ang husband ko to find a job.
May consultant po kami who assits us. (now when we inform them na mahirap palang maghanap ng work at we send them news from NZ Herald) hindi na sila nag rereply sa amin. We were grant WTR. By the way my husband is a Civil Engineer, almost 20 years and experience nya here in PI.
Can someone help us find kung ano po ba talaga ang dapat nyang makuhang work? may nagsasabi kasi na any engineering job will do, yung iba naman dapat daw Project Engineer, Project Planner, Project Coordinator or Estimator lang dapat para mag qualify sya. hindi po namin alam kung ano ba talaga ang dapat.
Ano din po ang dapat na pay that he'll be receiving. may nag ooffer sa kany if in case na mahanapan sya ng work is $18 per hour lang daw. Honestly, pag nababasa ko ang reply ng mga recruitment or companies na naapplyan nya pinanghihinaan ako ng loob that our dream to settle in NZ is not possible. but i still keep on believing that God will help us. Please give us some advise and baka naman po somebody can refer my husband. He is very hardworking and can easily adapt, fast learner and has good communication skills, madami din syang alam sa computer. thanks a lot. |

Do you know what skill your consultant listed on your application? If you know what skill that is then refer to Appendix 11 then refer to ANZSCO for skilled jobs related to your husband's skill.
If your visa will expire in the very near future then you have to explore other options if your husband wants to stay in nz. |

Hi Levy,
I've checked the previous email sent by our consultant. I am not sure if the ITA in adobe format is the one they sent with NZIS and the one you are asking. If that is, our consultant reply with the question A18 What is your main occupation? "312212 Civil Engineering Technician" A19 What industry is your main job (i.e. the main activity of the place where you work? "E426900 Construction Services nec"
Is it different with the questionnaires (SMC Interview questions) from Beijing? Kami po ang sumagot and we sent it thru DHL together with other requirements like medical exam. My husband's reply with the question: What is your preferred occupation in NZ? "I prefer to be a member of a project management team. I also prefer a role like an office engineer doing drawings, estimates, structural design, other paperworks, make site inspections from time to time or be at the jobsite full time"
Censia na po kung mahaba reply ko. With regards to your question about our visa. I am suggesting with my husband for him not be pressured and stressed he don't need to worry about our visa. para makapag concentrate sya sa pag hanap ng work. Is it possible na kapag na aprub ang husband ko ng PR damay din po ba kami even if we werent able to go to NZ at expre na ang visa namin?
HOpe hindi po kayo mainis sa mahabang reply ko. Thanks so much. |

"312212 Civil Engineering Technician" is in the ANZSCO list of occupations. Since that was the occupation you acquiesced your consultant should place on your application, this is the kind of job your husband should apply for.
Has your husband tailored his resume Kiwi-style? Has he undergone the Auckland Chamber of Commerce Kiwi Success Seminar for new migrants? That seminar is a way for your husband to get insights on how to apply for a job as well as network with other migrants.
He should also try to apply for jobs door to door, who knows he might strike it lucky and find an opening not posted online.
He should also try to find new friends or acquaintances who can point him in the right direction. Is he active in church?
As to the status of your visa it would be best if you asked your queries to the visa officer assigned to your case. But from my understanding of the policy if your husband gets a skilled job, you all get PR. To be sure, try to contact your visa officer.
All the best. |

hi levi,
Thanks you so much for giving time to read and reply with my queries.
No he's not active in any church at the moment, he's been in manukau for 9 days. I'll sent him your reply i am not familiar with the organization you were talking about. We'll search/surf for that. He has few friends that he met in Flatbush. He had applied tru phone and on line. But the reply is always not good.
I am hoping that somebody will give him a chance to show his capabilities. Lagi kasing hinahanap yung may background ng NZ. I just hope he'll find one, i feel his predicaments. worried sya because i have no work here tapos sya wala pa din. Sana he can meet people like you na may word of encouragement. I really wanted to settle "sana" jan if given a chance.
again, thanks so much. hope makarating din ako jan and have a chance to meet people like you. |

one tip: try ringing companies on the yellowpages. I know a couple of pinoys na ganyan ang ginawa na style kaya nakakuha ng trabaho.
Also, read yung local newspaper sa area nya, dito eh central leader, no idea ako sa manukau.
goodluck! |

Hi Philidor,
He do that already (calling thru yellow pages) and applying tru local newspaper. He also applied odd jobs but no positive reply yet. He is willing to move or apply in other place where he can find a job. In case you know a vacancies in your place or in your company please let me know. That is if its okay with you.
Actually, I helped my husband in scouting a job so that he can apply every possible jobs that will qualify him. He usually text me and asked me to surf some website that has posssible openings. One company emailed him and was interviewed this afternoon. So far the interview is okay but they are looking for NZ experience. I hope they will still consider my husband since he has the capability to do the work. We're hopeful that he'll find a job. With people like you, Levi and Ka Uro who's helping new migrants like us won't be difficult to hope for the best. Thanks a lot. |

Try nya hanapin online APEX engineering. Not sure kung naghi-hire sila ng civil eng pero pag makakuha ng 12month contract ang husband mo sa kanila, sure mabibigyan kayo ng PR. kilala kasi ng visa officers ang APEX- parang agency yan pero accredited ng nzis |
