Hi,

My names Malcs, I'm coming to auckland to study for a year and will want to camp and bivvy in winter. Does anyone have any idea what kind of temps it gets down to at night in the bush? I'm trying to decide what sleeping bag to buy too.

Because I've got experience from bivvying in Scotland I reckon I can follow the 'comfort levels' given by sleeping bag manufacturers, but if your new to camping I'd add 5/6% to the minimum temp of a bag. Its worth bearing in mind they create those guidelines in the lab, not in the real outdoors. (see www.alpkit.com for better guidelines).

Any advice would be appreciated!
