May I ask how many weeks (or mnonths) usually is the extension given to you to pass your ITA requirements if ever you will not meet the deadline?
I'm afraid that I may not meet the 4-month deadline because my wife just passed her requirements for assessment in NZQA this week, and usually it takes 3 months before NZQA releases the result. My deadline of submission of my ITA requirements is on Mar.18, 2010. |

Just inform your VO.
Your VO can contact NZQA regarding your assessment result. |

Is it alright to contact NZIS beforehand and request for an extension?
I'm planning to wait first for the result of my wife's assessment before I submit all our documents and ITA requirements. |

I don't think that I can already contact my VO because I still don't have any VO assigned to me because I haven't submitted yet my ITA requirements.
Please advise what is the best way I can do. I do not want to give NZIS the impression that I'm not interested because of not meeting the deadline. |

Contact the person who sent you your ITA letter. Check again the letter. It will be stated there what you should do if you think you are not able to submit application within the given timeframe. |

| agree, work it out with NZIS person who gave the ITA. i had the same case, i was out of the country and was not able to complete all requirements. I requested for 2 weeks extension but the officer gave me a month instead. Just negotiate with the officer the additional time you need. |
