Wanted to know if WTR visa holders ( 9 months) are given multiple entry visa in case one has to leave the country for a brief period.

you should be able to travel in and out within the 9 month period.

you may request your VO to make sure you get a wtr with mutiple entry and state very good reasons for doing so.
