Hi Everyone!

My fiance is in Wellington holding a work permit. We would
like to get married there in December (and then I'll go back ), so that when he renews his work visa, we can start processing my papers so I can work in NZ too.

So.. a few questions...

1. Am I required to get a partnership-based Tourist Visa? Or will a simple Tourist Visa suffice, in case we change our minds
but would still like to see each other in NZ?

2. Any tips on the documents I have to submit? I think I have enough financial documents, history of trips abroad and a stable job to return to, but zero assets.

Thanks!

Hi,

I compiled all those info based on INZ facts and phone call to national contact center of INZ Auckland office.

But if your fiance is present holder of Work Visa, you will be better off when you guys get married in Philippines instead here in NZ. Advantages are as follows:
1. You can come to NZ under Working Permit under Partnership. What ever is the visa/permit of your partner, it will be the same visa once you lodge in INZ.
2. You will not experience the long process of visa conversion
a. Visitors Visa (Coming to NZ)
b. Working Permit (You can only convert your VV after 6 months to 1 year) of living together.
c. PR (You will convert your Working Permit to PR after 6 months to 1 year.
3. Once your partner lodge the Citizenship application you will be included as well.

But if you prefer the longer route its your call.

we plan to get married in NZ but i'll go back home. its a vacation for me, so to speak. then we'll submit the necessary papers as if we were married here back home.

does that make sense? o_Oa he can't leave wellington anytime soon, that's why i'm the one who'll go there and not the other way around.

thanks again Very Happy
