Hi All,

If you are looking for a camper van rental in New Zealand, try getting in touch with Kenrick at New Zealand Frontiers and talk to him about your planned itinerary and requirements.

Nice guy, one man band, good rates, excellent vehicles. I am sure he will be able to help you out. Tell him Todd from Altatude suggested you contact him, you may get a discounted rate.

Campervan Hire
I checked their web but it was very hard to understand and their prices were 70NZD per day in winter. Checked a few others but ended up at Escape rentals at 35 a day. (it was mentioed on another board on this site) I dont think the campervan is as good as no shower etc but it looks great and it has a heater. I will post a photo of us in it. www.escaperentals.co.nz

Very cold at the moment so may try and go North to bay of islands

see you up north I am the one in a campervan with a Maori Tatoo on it

I'll be seeing NZ later this month and am looking around to rent a campervan online now.

Problem is, with so many different make and models around, I really do not have much of a clue which one to go for.

Would a Britz or Kea camper be a good bet??

Hi I took Ashleys advise and took an Escape camper for our trip in September. We had a wonderful time. We got a great rate and being a small vehicle we didnt spend too much on gas. The ferry was also cheaper. It is quite basic but we loved it. I guess it depends what you need or want.

More advise from our trip
You need at least three weeks to see the South Island, this is the most beautiful place. The west coast is a must as is the bottom of the South Island. Dont miss the catlins. The nicest of all the New Zealanders seem to live down there
Use Bluebridge ferries
Go to the local pubs and meet people, there are the most interesting people there. The tourist bars are not nearly as fun.
You need longer than a month!!!!!

Happy travels Laura

I have been looking at options for two of us in a camper, The escape vehicle is very cool but has no shower or toilet. Do you think we need them?, I am not sure if it would be clean and hygenic and it costs more for them.
Please advise me

I agree the toilet will be very smelly in Summer and I do not want to empty it. I hope to be swimming every day and have got the guys there to get me a solar shower. This will be fine

I'm hiring a Hitop Buzza from Backpackercampervans.com for three weeks in February. It's only for two of us. Has anyone used this company before? Are they any good?

Thanks...

I am sure they are good but they aren't as colourful, we went the Escape camper after we saw it on this board. They look like fun. We have two months and I really need some good ideas where to go. Does any one have a good site for planning a trip or any off the beat and track recommendations. Especially keen on free camping

Hi there,

just had 2 lovely months in NZ and we would say that you do not need a shower or toilet at all if you are not really fussy. there is heaps of them around in this country.

We rented a Sleepervan from www.bedmobils.com and had an absolute great time - lots of space, extremely friendly and reliable service and we just loved our Beauty ("SKY") nevertheless because she was so cheap on fuel Razz . So we want to highly recommend Thomas & Micha to everybody Smile

and psst....it is no problem to freecamp in nz

Cool Camper Van, a couple of dodgy looking fellows beside it though Smile. Yeah escaperentals seem to be the best option for those on a budget.

Hello!

just finished our trip through New Zealand and we want to say thanks for all your recommendations especially natalie Laughing

We went with a BEDMOBIL in the end and absolutely loved it. Great Camper, great set-up and very nice people.

So thanks for the recommendation again.

Just want to say we went the Escape option they were awesome, Thanks Michelle and the crew. The campers are basic but very cool, we had a great time. One point for getting a good deal, we booked though http://www.backpackercampers.co.nz/ and got a better price than directly though the Escape site
