| I have applied under the SMC category ( lecturer). I have been told that I'll be issued WTR visa ( 9 months duration). Will the WTR visa bound me to work as and only lecturer or can I get any skilled job, and convert my WTR to PR. What have been other's experience in this regard. |

If you spplied sa wtr as a lecturer, you should get a job within the specified skilled job as lecturer.

replied to the pm already...
NZ universities/colleges, polytechs, and other PTEs are in panic more nowadays because of the need for international accreditation of their courses/schools/departments, etc... Accrediation is one way to increase enrollment (domestically and internationally) and attract more funding.
To gain accreditation, top calibre faculty is a mnust. hence, these NZ education/training providers have been recruiting faculty - normally from UK, US and Austtralia. The recruits are expected to have PhD, wide experience in teaching in international/top unversities/colleges, and of course - a very long list of publications in top tier journals highly esteemed in their fields of expertise. The worse, many prof/assistant/assoc profs in these coutnries are even willing to accept lower position in NZ just to enjoy the better pay and perks that come with the job. This makes the competition even tougher.
But then again, each case is different and is judged on its own merit.
cheers. |
