Yes there is a "nightlife" in Auckland, but not the one's you are used to. English-style pubs are common and dots all the major metropolis. Bring passport and/or driver's license when going out as bouncers of established pubs really enforce the age policy on alcohol.
Beer runs about $14.00 glass; glass of wine depending on type and vintage, good ones around $7-9 a glass. They don't have the "pulutan" concept but some pubs offer food like fish and chips (beer battered fish and french fries).
Music? Hmm, not the ones were are accustomed with, although some pubs run karaoke and quiz nights.
There are also health clubs here - depends on what kind of service you want (gym, pool, locker room service, massage). Les Mills (not pronounced the French way), a tony gym here in Auckland has a annual membership fee of 100 i think then monthly fee of 50, i think. but there are lots of parks and cycle areas so you can work out on your own - lots of people do - if a gym membership is not on your budget.
The "healthclubs" of the gentleman kind (featuring comely "health care providers" and provides "release," physical and visual, from the "stress" of your everyday life, if you catch my drift) are also available. Those kinds of establishments are legal here in new zealand and all "health care professionals" are regularly tested for "work-related diseases."
For visual stimulations, there are two well-know establishments here in auckland: showgirls along customs street, and the pricier but according to friends who are loyal patrons, better one is white house along upper queen street. Word of caution, these establishments really enforce the "look but NO touch policy" (unless you ordered a private lapdance) and violating that can mean that big burly bouncer throwing you out of the club or being banned from future entry. |

ako madami ako dala medicine nung pumunta ako kasi dami pinabili ni misis. if over-the-counter medicine, wala problem, just dont bring too much din. if prescription, ilagay mo na lang sa resealable plastic yung medicine together with your doctor's prescription. didnt encounter any problems. sa baggage ko nilagay. |

There is nightlife, but not the ones we are used to, of course. And more expensive and limited choices.
Never been to them clubs, happily I now get my "meals" at home. Why get "takeaway" when there's steak at home? Besides, how am I going to explain a huge hole in our join account the day after?
Based on frequent patrons I know, it is up to you how much you want to spend; what you want to be done to you is based on price. The more "exotic" the more expensive. If you are pretty generous then you will get all the fireworks, of course.
I think to be sure you have to declare all prescription medication at customs. Just ask you physician to write a legible prescription in your wife's name to accompany the medicines. |
