Can I change jobs while my PR Appli, which is soooo f*&^$#@g sloooow is still being processed? I submitted my PR aaplication within the WTR validity (papers from my current employer). I was given a six month general work permit. I have an offer from another company. You think this will screw-up my PR aaplication if I transfer? Have been working for my current company for the last 5months. Basically the same job, better pay and schedule.

Oh, and I hate my f$#@*&g company right now, lost a promotion coz am not a f&^%$#@g citizen/ pr visa holder

As long as it is in your skill set, and your employer is willing to support your application tooth and nail with immigration, why not?

Best run this through to your visa officer though. Are you just waiting for a decision on your PR application or in the early stages? If still in early stages, better be upfront with prospective employer that you might have to renew your work permit after 6 months - and you know immigration is basically sh!tty when it comes to work permit renewals, but you need additional time for the processing of your papers. Otherwise, as long as your long-term prospects are good with the new company, then by all means.

All the best.

submitted my documents as early as march1. just waited for 4payslips then off the docs went to queen st.

If I do accept the new offer from another company, won't this be considered as "finding a job AFTER my wtr has lapsed"? my orig wtr expired april (but I already submitted my employment docs with my current employer march1). currenttly on general work visa.

will this screw-up my current PR application big time in such a way that the f$#@*&^g VO might ask me to lodge a new EOI?

that's basically my only apprehension, to be asked to lodge a new EOI if I transfer.

I f*&%$#@*g despise working for my current employer. They've already tried looking for an "internal" candidate and all they had was an unskilled citizen to TRY doing what I currently do - I am already functioning as the supervisor, atleast in work load!

sh!tty candidate did not even have the proper background and they want ME to train him! f#@K that!

Omygod - ouch about training your rival. If he is really the nincompoop that he/she is, then teaching him/her the ropes will be soooo much fun for you.

Well, as the rules stand, any skilled work obtained during your general work visa stage will result in your PR application being abandoned and a new one being applied to.

Is there any word from your VO about the status of your application? What are they waiting for - they have your employment contract and 4 month payslip. Haven't they contacted your HR officer to confirm your position? Is there anyone in your office that could call up immigration and update on your behalf?

..snip..

oopps. ok.

what does your Deferral of Residence Application states?

In my case, it states that "In order to meet the SMC policy requirements and to be granted PR status, the principal applicant needs to become established in an ongoing skilled employment and remain in that employment for at least 3 months w/in the validity period of the WTR visa/permit."

You've only been working for 2 months when you sent your docs. They might have started processing your application sometime in April. This means you "might" get an Approved in Principle letter next week or 1st week of June.

Nothing from the f#@$%*!g visa officer. no calls, no emails. I've tried to follow-up atleast 2x but all I get is that its still being processed.

Itching to resign. just started a critical project and I want to see what will happen when I leave since no one is backing me up. All they gave me is an assistant to handle all documentations.

st&^$#d really, to tell an employee that the position he is doing on interim basis can only be offered to "internal employees" then assign another critical project to that employee with a july deadline.

f%$k! I'm part of the company but am not considered an internal employee?!!

and they say NZ is immigrant friendly. F#@* me!

Who's your case officer?

Anyway, i think you're expecting a result too soon. I really think it takes approx 2 months for them to give a decision after they start processing your skilled employment documentations.

mate, what do you expect, you're in a laid back country. if you're really fair dinkum regarding your application, I suggest, you wait and be patient and take everything one day at a time. you cannot do everything in one day. as regards to your current employment, there's nothing much you can do about that, just bear with it for the time being, once you get that permanent residence approval, you can turn around and tell your current employer to stick their job up their a@$$.
