| Hi levi, is it true that Auckland footpaths would make the soles of your shoes very dark/black? How's the pollution there compared to Wellington? Thanks! |

I am not the best one to answer the pollution question since I've never been to Windy Welly.
Checked my shoes today after walking the width and breath of Queen Street, and they were indeed dusty but not sooty black. |

this is a tricky question.
If you tick yes (that you intend to work part-time as int'l students are allowed to work fro 20 hours/k), the visa officer may be suspicious of your true intention if other circumstances surrounding your application may not be strong enough (to convince the vO that you really are a genuine student visa applicant.)
If you tick no, you forgo your right to work for 20 hours, However, you can apply for variation of conditions once you are already in NZ. This application will however cost you - check the nzis website for the exact amount. |

Hi guys,
How many days is the processing for student visa?
My papers are all complete (offer of place, enrollment receipt..etc) awaiting medical exam results.
I have already a ticket bound for Auckland on February 7. If I can lodge my application January 28.. do you think I can have a visa before feb 7?.
Thanks |

| if nzis asks for that information (e.g. in the forms, or during the interview, etc), then you should provide that info. the rule is: never lie with nzis because lies will hunt you ad infinitum. the consequences can be unpleasant. |

hi everyone (wellingtonianbuddy and levi)!
so, after a couple of months of silence and paper work preparation -- finally i am lodging my application hehehe...the first few months, after i started asking questions, i scouted for schools and applied for universites and i had 3 accepts and 2 conditionals but a college accepted me and even offered a scholarship grant. with that, i decided to go with the scholarship grant to cut off the expenses as well. the place is in palmerston north. it's a two years, 5 months grant and for masters degree. i have the necessary documents already (like the invoice, payment for the one year fee, living expenses - since i will be staying in the residence halls, and so on...), i will be lodging my application on monday. so anything else i need to do to?
thanks a lot for your help, really provided me great insight on what to do with my application and any more pointers will greatly help a lot. thank you!
appreciates,

Congratulations on your scholarship.
But be sure to read the conditions of your acceptance. Some scholarships, particularly funded by NZAid, prohibits you from either living or working in NZ after you finish your degree for a certain amount of time. So if your end aim is to work and stay here, check/inquire about conditions on your scholarship.
Also, don't set your hopes too high on Palmy North - it's not cosmopolitan or modern. It has a small town feel to it so if you yearn for the bright lights then think twice before accepting this grant. |

thanks a lot for the heads-up!
regarding palmerston north, i went through some infos on the place and i think the laid back area would just be alright with me. since i go there to study, so i can adjust to it. i also went through the contract grant and since it is a japanese partnership with the school, they only require that i do help with the cross-cultural awareness. like internship for an hour a day in the school and participate in all cultural programs
regarding the lodgement of application, will the vo be calling me like an interview or something?
thanks a lot!
appreciate it,
