Hi to All,

Have you experienced claiming or requesting your school registrar regarding ENGLISH LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY CERTIFICATE?

Because in my case it takes 2 months to claim your english language proficiency certificate...

Is this the usual procedure? Napakatagal naman
daig pa kung magpa assess ka ng NZQA...

Pls share yours

Are you applying as a skilled migrant? If yes, why not just take the IELTS exam. It'll only take 2 weeks to receive the result. Less hassle since it's probably the best way to prove english proficiency for the VOs.

Hi Eu_cast! Mukhang yung school ang mabagal! Normally, it does not really take that much time to request for one!

Hello sonya2008,

It depends. I don't believe on review centers and I won't recommend review centers to anybody I know who are planning to take the IELTS exam. In my case, I only practiced answering the downloaded review materials the day before the exam. No kidding!

You only need to get hold of good review materials. Some are available on the net and those are usually enough. For practice, just watch english movies and read a lot. Oh... and don't forget to download the IELTS booklet.

cheers! Smile

if you are not confident with your level of english language proficiency (e.g. writing, speaking, listening, reading the British way), it may be useful to take a review course so you'll know what to expect from the IELTS exams. The IELTS is a British English orientated exam. Aussie and NZ "Englishes" are adaptations of the British English.

listening regularly to the BBC, Radio Australia or Radio New Zealand (over the internet) may also help you in your listening skills (as the accent is a lot way out of the American accent that we're used to).

I took mine 1996 pa un. anyways, listening to BBC (TV and shortwave radio) helped me understand the British accent.

good luck.

Hi, engr2008 / wellingtonianbuddy..

Thanks for the replies and inputs..

I will download materials from the net and review from there. I'm having difficulty with British English kaya siguro nauunahan ako ng takot. I'm still used to American english pa din and sad to say nakakasanayan ko na din Singlish (Singapore English) kaya lalo ako natatakot sa exams Sad

Anyway, thanks po ulit. Great help po talaga mga advices nyo.

ur welcome,

in case u didn't realize, Singlish is a derivative of the British English as well. SG was a long base of the British soldiers/expats during the 30's to 60's.

cheers!

Hi, wellingtonianbuddy..

SG indeed has many traces of British influences. Ok na sana but the Chinese/Malay accent mixed with British English make Singlish very informal and a little irritating Smile I really need to practice well on the speaking part.

Thanks po ulit for all the advices.
Hopefully magkita-kita tayo sa NZ someday. Smile
