hi. i'm new in this forum. we've just received our ITA and are now starting to compile the documentary requirements. problem is, we're residents of Japan now.

does anyone know if it's possible to get an NBI clearance by proxy in the philippines? (we've lost our old NBI clearance copies)

where do you get the certified true copy of the passport? the embassy here doesn't do that work.

looking forward to your advice,
ning

Hi ning,

Its a shame that you lost your old one because it would be very easy for you to get a new one without personal appearance had you had your old nbi clearance. Probably you can look for it again?

It would be best to surf the NBI website if you cannot find your old nbi clearance.

Is there a notary public there in japan that can certify in english that the copy of your passport is certified?

hello. thanks for the reply.
we've asked our families sa pinas to look if we still have copies of our NBI clearances. pero malabo na iyon kasi 1990 and 1995 pa nung kunin namin ang mga iyon. and we both submitted our copies for work then. anyway, abt the NBI website, walang masyadong info doon. hindi binanggit kung pwedeng proxy application sa pinas. wala pa silang reply sa email ko. there was something there abt applying at the phil embassies abroad. we want to avoid that kasi abala masyado. better sana kung proxy lang sa pinas. pero kung di talaga pwede, e di sa embassy na nga ang bagsak namin.
abt the certified true copy of the passport, you mean kailangan lang namin i-photocopy iyon and then have it notarized? all of the pages ba?

salamat ulit,
ning

*NBI at Embassy - yes, abala talaga. I had to take a leave from work just to arrange for visa papers. Just maximize your leaves so that you won't have to take frequent leaves from your current job. Since the last time you had an NBI was in the 90s, yours might take longer; if you got married and had a change of name, longer still; so it is best that you bring evidence of your identification (birth certificate, passport, driver's license and marriage certificate, if any) when applying for NBI clearance through embassy. Oh, and bring passport sized ID photos, white background, no glasses or coloured contact lenses, and lotsa tissue papers kasi "magpia-piano" kayo ata doon (fingerprinting).

*Certified true copy - yes, print your passport and have it notarized. Make sure na nakalagay sa photocopy, "Certified True Copy of the Original" and the details of the Notary Public, in English. Maximize nyo na rin ang certification so make multiple copies of those papers you need certifying.

salamat ulit!
