Really depends on what you are into. If you have heaps of money to spend and are into rafting, bungee jumping, paragliding etc then you could fill in a week. Personally I would head down to Glenorchy for a day while you are in Queenstown.

Agreed... it really depends on what you're into. If you like lots and lots of tourists, going out to the bars, and spending lots of money, Queenstown is just your kinda place.

All the "extreme" activities can be done elsewhere for less $$, and bars in QT serve alcohol just like anywhere else.

QT is quite beautiful though, sitting on a lake, surrounded by mountains. I spent 1.5 days there, took a bus over to Milford for a couple days, then back to QT for a night. I was fortunate enough to see the mountains with and without snow in both QT and Milford. Very Happy

Personally, I kinda liked Wanaka better. It's a much less touristy feeling town, also on a lake, also surrounded by mountains. Apparently it's what QT was before it went huge on the tourist market.

love,
jon
