Hi, this thread is really helpful to me! I'm planning to migrate to NZ. I'm a college professor here, working for almost 4 years now. I already finished my Masters too. Is it really necessary for my qualifications to be fully assessed by NZQA or a Pre-assessment is enough for immigration? All replies will be highly appreciated
Thanks!

| You should ask the NZ embassy. It's case to case basis actually. In my case, they required me to take NZQA assessment, for your case it might be different as you have a master's degree qualification. I read in some thread that one doesn't have to go thru NZQA if there is master's degree. Anyway, it is better to ask the NZ embassy. |

hello coffeemaniac,
pre-assessment would be enough for now unless the VO will ask for it later.
i believe you are aware that university lecturers are in the long-term shortage list of NZ. this is to your advantage. I am baffled however, that you are already a college professor as one cannot get full professorship in just four years unless your in the category of the great minds such as Stephen Hawkins (Oxford) or Michael Porter of Harvard U.
nonetheless, you must be aware too that once you get your Work to residence visa (assuming you passed the nzis selection), the biggest hurdle is to get a job in line with the work that you applied for in your visa (i.e. university lecturer).
As you may know, there are very few tertiary education providers in NZ- hence, competiton is very tough. Unless you have a truckload of experience in teaching, research, and publication, your chance of getting into university teaching is very slim (even homegrown kiwis with recent PhD could not easily get a teaching position). The WTR visa requires that you must find a job in line with what is specified in your visa application (hence the wtr visa conditon) to get the NZ residency.
Hope this is an enlightenment. |

Hi! Need your assistance please.
Where can I find this NZQA assessment? This is one of my requirements since my school is not on their list. Should I pass this NZQA I'll be getting extra points which will make my total score of more than 120 points.
Thank you so much for your kind assistance. |

Hi mcqueen,
Andito lahat ng details www.nzqa.govt.nz you can apply for PAR or full assessment.
In my case since nagclaim ako ng bonus point for LTSSL, nirequire pa rin ako ng nzqa kahit yung school ko eh nasa list nila.
Hope nakatulong ako kahit papano |

Hello Rogue
Thanks for the info. It's really helpful.
Ang principal applicant kasi is ung hubby ko. So para makadagdag points, need kong kumuha ng NZQA. Right now, naka draft pa rin ung EOI namin. Currently, kahit wala ung NZQA, total points na namin is 120.
Question: Is it ok to submit now our EOI or wait pa namin result ng NZQA? Thanks |

Hi Mcqueen,
Yung case kasi namin before, 140 points na kami kaya malakas ang loob ko magsubmit kasi automatic selection na. Pero before submitting, kumuha kami ng PAR sa nzqa for my husband in order to claim his points kasi parang nabasa ko doon na need talaga ang nzqa full or partial assessment for eoi pag wala sa LORQ yung school. And then, nung napasama yung EOI namin, nirequire din ako ng EOI officer namin ng nzqa kasi nagclaim ako ng bonus points.
magulo ba? hehehe... ask mo lang ako kung meron kang di naintindihan. |

Thanks Rogue
Malinaw na malinaw walang problema sa school ng husband ko kasi kasama naman sa list para added points on my part kaya gusto kong kumuha ng nzqa. Right now nasa 120 points pa lang kami |

i think it's better if you have the nzqa result before applying for EOI. Less hassle if you are claiming bonus points for your qualification. |

Honestly, i don't know the difference. My ITA letter says i'm required to submit a FULL NZQA assessment since i'm claming points for a Qualification or Work experience in the Absolute Skills Shortage. If I don't include the NZQA assessment, INZ will not accept my application.
I submitted the form found on this link -> http://www.nzqa.govt.nz/for-international/qual-eval/international/fees.html
Hope that helps.
Cheers! |

@Mcqueen: still gathering required docs for WTR application. Might take more than a month because I have to renew my passport. tsk tsk.
Btw, if you're an engineer, you can use your NZQA Assessment result if you're applying for IPENZ membership. |
