it depends if after they have assessed your total correct points, it will still be more than the minimum, you will be invited to apply for residence..

The VO is actually the case manager who will be assignend to evaluate your case. So at this stage, we probably dont know yet who your VO will be.

What many people don't know is that your application will change hands as you progress one stage to another, to ensure that there is check and balance in evaluating yourapplication.

all the best.

To Wellingtonbuddie,

Sir Ive been reading your comments for 3 months now, and it seems that your are pretty good in advicing aspiring immigrant. Sir I want you to tell me, that migrating to New Zealand, Is it worth to leave our Homeland? At present I already submitted my ITA, and akoy naguguluhan kung tama bang iwanan ko ang magandang career dito sa Philippines. Actually sir, kaya ako nag apply sa New Zealand because of my mother, By the way Im only 29 years old, and I am an Electrical Engineer in DPWH, actually one of my reason for migrating is, ayoko na ding maging part ng systema sa Government natin. Actually sir alam nyo siguro ang mga gimiks ng mga nasa age ko, syempre nightlife, dabarkads, shopping at Hi-tech geeks... So worth it ba na manirahan sa New Zealand? pero sir Im now looking for a place to stay and live to the fullest, I am a nature lover and ayoko na ng buhay sa City, I want to have a peace of mind and live with my family, is it New Zealand? Thanks Dude....

Your questions are very profound. First thing you need to check is the career prospect you got here in New Zealand. If you have checked that your skill is indeed in demand in NZ, then the long-term prospect seems bright.

However, the start of your new life here in NZ may be not that easy. Issues like getting the kind of job you want may be of concern. However, with persistence and right attitude, I think one will do well. You may have to sacrifice some luxuries in life as you start your new life. You must have read in other threads in this forum the challenges new migrants have to bear when they started their life in NZ.

If you ask me, the hardships I faced when I arrived here were a matter of attitude. At one point in time, I had to work as a 'sanitation engineer' (i.e. cleaner) Very Happy to meet my needs and that of my family. Isipin ko na lang, bawat brush ko ng toilet bowl, isang araw na pagkain na yun for my family back in the Phils. (before I let them join me).
I could never be more proud than that. Let's just say I conquered my little corner in NZ with a stroke of a toilet brush!

New Zealand offers diverse exepriences for young people like you. There is night life too (especially in major cities like Wellington, Auckland, and Christchurch). As to your geeky needs- well, I think Dick-Smith NZ can help you with that. TradeMe NZ is fun too. You will be very busy shopping, I suppose.

I understand how you feel about the Phil. government, and working with DPWH. I came from a Phil. government agency too. If you think that you are no longer happy with your curretn situation and you believe NZ is a better option, go for it.

I am concerned however, that you are doing this migration thing for your mother. Whilst it is very noble and heartwarming, my advise to you is do it for yourself. Is this really what you want? If it is, then go for it.

If love of nature is the issue, the Godzone (i.e. NZ) can fill your desires to the fullest.

In the end, no one can really tell if NZ is right for you and your family. It is only when you are here for a whilst that you begin you re-assess your life and your priorities.

If you ask me, the cleanliness and simplicity of life here is reason enough for me and my family to stay. My view is that NZ as a society has put in place the right values and priorities in life geared towards optimal quality of life for everyone.
My wife and I don't earn much but we manage to save a bit for the little luxuries in life. My wife found it almost impossible to get a US visit visa whilst we were still in the Philippines. Now that she's a NZ PR, she just got her US visa without any fuss. (Im am sending them (my wife and daughter) to Disneyland for their holiday early next year).I'm not bragging here, but I worked for years in the Philippines but could never afford to send my family for holiday oveseas.

I live a few minutes away from Wellington yet I find my place "rural-like" (in the Pinoy sense of the word). You will be amazed to see Wellington's CBD bustling and full of people at day time, and almost like a deserted place at night - (except for Courtney Place where the nightlife action is).

Looking for a place to stay - this will ultimately depend on where your job will be.

I hope I have enlightened you. Anyway, you have ampple time to think about your options.

Cheers, dude.

One disappointment you may have in NZ is that internet access (esp. broadband) is surprisingly expensive by OECD standards. But if you are working/earning, this should not be an issue ( I hope).

Hi wellingtonianbuddy,

I just want to ask if I'm given WTR visa can I immediately bring my family along with me going to New Zealand. Or I still need to work harder to get a permanent residence before they can join me in New Zealand

Can you please give some pointers.

Best regards

Ronald

hi ronald,

technically, a WTR is similar to a work visa, the only difference is that you are given the favourable option to get residency once you get the kind of job stipulated in your visa application.

having said that, you are entitled to bring with you your family. In fact, many migrants who were given WTR visa(and included their family) in the application took their family with them to NZ. I don;t know why your family were not included in your application. if you did not include them in your application, just make sure you decalre in the forms the detials of your family. failure to declare that would mean a lot later on when your family will apply for visa (in whatever type)to join you in NZ.

in my case, i found it reassuring to come here all by myself at the onset, found my flat, put up all the appliances, settled down, saved some money. then I let my family joined me after six months. When they came over, they did not have much trouble/worries settling down as things were already in place. in fact, my wife got her ideal job right after two months of arrival perhaps, because there was nothing else to worry about (other than finding a creche for our one year old daughter at that time.)

hope this helps.

Yes I do put my family in my application. The reason I asked that is I'm a little bit confuse about PR and WTR that was also raised in this forum. So like what you said WTR is really a pure working visa with an option that can bring a family.

I like the way you established your living there and the sacrife you when to in yout first month.

How long you been there now? may I know what profesion are you into?

Thanks a lot wellingtonianbuddy. Hope you will not get tired giving info. to me as i get along wiht my application and to other members who what to clarify some issue regarding immmigrating there.

Best regards ....
