| I have not heard of any Filipino working as physiotherapist in New Zealand yet but I plan to migrate there and work as a PT someday. Is there any pinoy physiotherapist out there in new zealand? If there are, I would like to ask about how you were able to obtain accreditation/ qualifications for working as a pt. thank you.. |

| there has never been a PT from the Philippines to practice as PT's here in NZ because of the curriculum used in the Philippines is totally different from that of NZ.. They will recommend that you take further studies of at least three more years and there are only two universities that offer it, Auckland Uni and Otago Uni.. however, if it interests you, i had known of filipinos who are working assistant physios in rest homes but its only part time, hardly can find a full time physio position here in NZ. |

thank you for your reply. the websites were very helpful indeed and i learned that i do not qualify as a skilled immigrant. it seems Pinoy PT's are not for NZ. if it takes three years for further studies then it is so much time, money, and effort consuming. But I am very thankful for your reply since it really helps a lot not only in my decision making but for other Filipino PT's who also ask the same question. Things happen for a reason and purpose and they serve us... Thank you! |

I have been planning to work and migrate in New Zealand someday and am doing a research on the net regarding how to be a registered PT in New Zealand.
It seems that Physiotherapy Board of New Zealand does not recognize our curriculum here in the Philippines.
A proof to this is written in this link http://www.physioboard.org.nz/docs/faqs_os_apps_aug_2007.pdf and then try to find the word "PHILIPPINES". That is where my dream ends. waaaaaahhhhh!!!!!
Thanks!!! This blog helps me a lot. You rock!!!! |

thank you for the info. actually i read that the Philippine curriculum for physical therapist is based on the US curriculum, so in case we like to pursue a PT career in NZ, we have to study again since their curriculum is entirely different.
Upon learning that, I opened myself to options of working in Middle East or perhaps pursuing my NPTE.
Look at the bright side, at least we still have other options.
Good luck to us. _________________ Love many, trust few, wrong none. |

Hi Achie,
Are you in New Zealand right now? Are you connected with PNIJobs?
I hope you are. Anyway, with that info you have, it brings a big opportunity to us, PTs, here in the Philippines to work and migrate in New Zealand.
With regards to http://www.physioboard.org.nz/docs/faqs_os_apps_aug_2007.pdf, this info I got was really on the official website of the Physiotherapy Board of New Zealand which is the governing body of all working physiotherapists in this beautiful country.
Nonetheless, I hope PNIJobs is working this out 100% without any reservation so that all deserving PTs here in the Philippines can work and migrate legally in New Zealand.
Thanks a lot! Keep on rocking.... Dudes!
Best regards,
