|
|
Hi - I'm currently employed in Philippines and am transferring office in Auckland. I will still be with the same employer - just that the salary will be coming from the Auckland office. I have initiated an EOI via NZ online and have already paid for $400 EOI fee. But one friend told me that Work Visa is a faster way to get in.
Can anyone please share your thoughts on which is the best visa application option for me: Skilled Migrant (via EOI) or Work Visa?
Also appreciate if you could share any relevant experiences and correct my interpretations below:
For SMC:
- I can include my dependents in the application
- One approval approves everyone in the application
- Once EOI is selected, does it usually take 3 months or so just to get the ITA (even for applicants with JO)?
- Fees are high: $400(EOI) + $1800(appl fee) + $XXX (Bangkok expenses for the interview) + $300(migrant's levy for each person in the application)
- Dependents can avail the publicly funded healthcare
For Work Visa:
- I cannot include my dependents in the application
- Each dependent has to apply separately for student or work visa
- Do we need to wait until I get a PR visa before my dependents can apply for or granted with student or work visa?
- Can dependents of Work Permit holders avail of the publicly funded healthcare?
- Fees are more reasonable: $240(WV appl fee) + $200(appl for each dependent student and/or work visa)
- Interview (if any) is held in Manila, Philippines (no need to go to Bangkok)
I want to get into NZ faster and to have all my dependents with me in NZ in the shortest waiting time possible. Please help. |

| I am not very much aware which will be best for you. I just want to share what I know based from what I have read in this forum and based on our own experience. Yes, once you apply under SMC all dependents declared are included and once approved all will be given visas (work/student visa). Also, if you have job offer you may be automatically given PR visa. But you must convince them with evidence and authenticity of the job offer. Your employer may be of great help in processing too. Our interview was conducted here in Manila already not in Bangkok anymore. We just paid P 2,000 for interview levy. Migrant levy will be paid only when PR visa is issued already. |
