Hello,
ECE din ako dito sa Pinas, naka apply sa Transfield Services and natanggap for 15Months contract nga lang... Madali ba makahanap ng trabaho diyan after ng 15 months ko sa Transfield? Mag apply kasi ako EOI right after ko dumating diyan.... Ang experience ko is more on Transmission, Wireline & Broadband network Maintenance.
Thanks! |

Hi Mike,
Congratulations on your job at TSL. I process allot of Road Opening Notices for them as well as for about more than 20 other recognized contractors who do major and minor trenching and trenchless construction all around the city and Banks Peninsula. Just get the experience, because there is a high demand for your profession here. Konti lang may Engineering degree dito and yet employed sila in the profession. That is your advantage.
Cheers

For Chad:
What are your credentials? Madaming trabaho sa Telecom and Telstra. Most positions are now filled by Temps via recruitment agencies so why don't you change your strategy and focus on getting work via recuritment agencies as a starter and if you have enough experience mag apply kana sa mga higher level positions. It helps allot if you start small. Experience is still a major factor in hiring. Most positions are job-specific anyway meaning even if you have the degree, you will still be trained on tasks that are specific to the work itself. |

Hello Everyone!
I would like to know for those of you ECE's in NZ, what school you studied and what level you got from NZQS.
Last August 1, my EOI was selected and i claimed for points under "Qualifications and Work experience in Area of Absolute Skills Shortage." However i was informed that i still need to apply for PAR before they give the bonus points. Apllying online, I only got Level 6 for BS ECE, Mapua Institute of Technology. I am planning to take the Full Assessment and i am hoping to get the desired result, Level 7..
Your response to this query would be greatly appreciated... |

Hello,
MIT din ako, ECE at Level 7 ang nakuha ko sa Full Assessment. 2005 ako nagpasa ng EOI and during that time, basta graduate ka ng Mapua, you don't need to get a PAR or Full Assessment - automatic Level 7 ka na agad. Di ako sure sa bagong process so di ako alam kung ano na ang nire-require nila ngayon.
Hope this helps. _________________ "When it rains, it pours!" |

Im an ECE graduate too and has been working for Siemens products (SDH Radio and Multiplexers). Last year I submitted my EOI and was selected also after 1 week. Got my ITA last Oct and submitted all the requirements this Jan 2008. I am now awaiting my interview under Trina Kuo.
I am also hoping there are some pinoys in NZ who are in my field and what are the chance of me getting and landing a job in Tranmission (Telecommunication role).
Regards,
Mike |

Hi,
Yes I recently join the company but I’m on the Power Group, dealing mostly with Transpower transmission project (www.transpower.co.nz)
I encourage everybody to start applying on-line even though your still base in RP. The company recently hired 200-300 Telecom Engineers back home. Most of them previously work with PLDT/Smart, Bayantel, Digitel/Sun , Globe, ICC, PT&T.
Telecoms NZ as an asset owner no longer maintain and operate their network. 95% of its operations and maintenance is handled by preferred maintenance contractors such as Transfield, Downer, Astute and other SME. The remaining 5% falls on NOC. Some Ex-PLDT Switching Engineer (NOC) works with Telecom. Telecom NZ is now shifting its existing Qualcomm CDMA into GSM. Wala pa pong SIM card ng CP ng Telecom.
To get bigger picture of telecommunications industry in New Zealand try reading the articles on this website:
