yes this was not mentioned at the information at the website and at their application forms. However, I have this information thru the mom of my bf hu is a nurse in nz. She would call up the nursing council for questions and she was told 3 to 6 mos experience is enough for you to get registered.
This can either be actual experience as a staff, training or voluntary work.
What my bf and i did was get a job, then after 3 months asked our senior nurse to make us a recommendation letter with letterhead and sent this to the nursing council. My bf is already in nz. He got his approval letter and will start his training this october. He only had 4 months experience as staff.
I ,on the other hand, am expecting my approval letter since I have been in contact with the nursing council who had confirmed to have sent me my letter. I am still working here as a staff nurse for 6 months now.
This is upon our inquiry and apparently it worked. this is in regards to nursing registration only. The work experince requirement with employers would be a different matter.

is the 3-month work experience or training needed prior to assessment of nursing registration application?

do you mean, an applicant will not have to undergo a competency assessment if he/she has 3-6months experience? |

no. That's not what I meant. As long as you are an overseas nurse you would need this training or competence assessment program to be registered (unless you were registered with Australia and UK).
Part of the requirement is:
1. CV stating your post graduate experience
2. Professional reference from your senior nurse at your current workplace
So this would mean that you need experience. When we asked the nursing council, they replied with 3-6 months as sufficient for them to review your CV and professional reference and eventually approve your application with other requirements.
My bf submitted his CV indicating 4 months experience. He got his approval and will start his training this October. |

thelmallari--what school are you going to have your competency program? when?
re: competency program
>>I guess as what I have known..anybody who will enter as a nurse there will have to undergo their compentency program..it doesnt matter how long your experience in the Philipiines is...and if you have and IELTS score of 7 (in all subjects)then your CAP will be just 6 weeks.. |

| i was previously with an agent but finally decided to pursue application on my own. i've paid all my expenses. although it's really costly, i believe i still saved a lot more. actually, i've 2 colleagues joining me in this CAP. we don't have any hospital/sponsor yet but we're hopeful we'd get one upon successful completion of the course. |

hi rachael,
first, you have to apply for visitor's visa coz the CAP is a less than 3-month course (it's stated in the nz immigration website). you can show a 2-way ticket but in my case, i just showed my itinerary/booking. medical exam is at the st. luke's along bocobo in ermita. go there early coz it really gets crowded with people! hopefully, you'll finish all needed tests in 1 day. if you've monthly period, postpone it until after the 10th day when you don't see any drop on your undies (that's what i was told there). costs P8,000. additional fees for additional tests that would be required of you. the basic tests/procedures are: blood chem., urinalysis, CXR, hepa screening, test for STD, HIV & complete PE (one has to undress before a doctor of same gender as patient - thank GOD for this!). when you apply for the visa, you must provide bank cert. with enough funds (for living expenses in NZ, one must budget around NZ$1,000/mo.). yes, you definitely must show proof that you've ben accepted by the school where you intend to take the CAP. before acceptance, the school will also require you to undergo medical exam - hepa profile, MRSA, serological tests, mantoux test. of course, required tests might vary from one institution to the other. after you're cleared with these tests, you now enrol & pay your fees thru a bank (i paid mine at ANZ bank in makati). then you sned the bank's receipt to the school so they could issue your receipt which you would submit a the VIA centre ( that's where you file your visa application). be sure to photocopy all your docs. & provide a long brown envelope when you file for visa). visa fee is now P4,200 & if you want your visa-stamped passport delivered to your place, you have to pay P200 more for the courier.
that's about it. it'll be tiring i know.. but have time to enjoy the legwork! |

| with regards to the booking/itinerary, we requested our agent to fursnish us with a copy of the confirmed booking for the 2-way travel. you can then ask your agent to provide you with this to serve as your proof. |
