| Hi all. My sister and I will be visiting in Jan from US. We will be there for approx 2 weeks. Hoping to do some sea kayaking and tramping. Any suggestions? Fitness is not a major concern, money is. We will be arriving in Auckland but spending most of our time in the south. Rent a Car? Any suggestions or must sees? Thanks! |

| Yes hire a car for sure and book it as soon as your flights are confirmed, last summer every car in the country was booked! Sea Kayaking can be done in quite a few places, Abel Tasman National Park is proberbly the nicest area but also the busiest (lots of competition so maybe the cheapest), Kaikoura is good for the wildlife (may sea seals and dolphins - http://www.seakayakkaikoura.co.nz/ ), Marlborough Sounds ( http://www.soundswild.co.nz/ ) is also vey senic and less popular than Abel Tasman, there is also the Sounds ( http://www.fiordlandseakayak.co.nz/ ) maybe a bit to expensive though. |
