If you guys (during the 5 years and 6 months of being steady) did not "live together" in a "genuine and stable relationship" for 12 months prior to your intended application, then your application for a working visa under the family stream would most likely be denied.
However, you can do either of the following:
1. After your BF receives his PR visa, he can come home to the Philippines and marry you.
I know of someone who got married on December 2005 and got her working visa (valid until early 2009) under family stream late June 2006 (6 months after their wedding). I got my working visa (also through family stream) 8 months after our wedding (valid until 2008); or
2. You can apply for a visitor's visa/fiance visa (valid for 9 months during an 18 month period), get married here in NZ, then apply for a working visa (under family stream) and/or residence visa (under family - partnership policy) with the immigration office here in NZ.
Hope this helps. |

start collating your emails, photos together....any evidence that you are in a partnership for a long time, you have to show proofs to your visa officer.
Even a narration on how you met each other. |

i just wish all the luck in the world for those who are sponsoring their bf/s or gf/s.
i have met countless people who sponsored their gf/s and gf/s. once the bf/gf was given the work visa or PR and is already in NZ, the partnership flew through the window. (iniwan agad yong sponsor!).
so...all the best to people in such a situation. |
