sad to say inenforce na nila ang essential skills policy that took effect lasy july 28, 2008.

you might want to read on that sa INZ website.

basically all low skilled jobs are to be offered to kiwis first, before hiring any overseas applicants

yan basically ang problema ng mga RN dito na nag aral ng ACE sa Christchurch. They can not find caregiver jobs or they can not renew their work permit anymore
.

I suggest that you work on your NCNZ registration. visit www.nursingcouncil.org.nz and www.nurse2nz.blogspot.com .

hope that helps goodluck

i am a registered nurse in the philippines and went here in nz to visit my sister.
A resthome gave me a job offer as a caregiver and then filed for a work permit.
The immigration officer send me a letter telling me that they are not convinced, madami daw citizens na pwedeng makuha para sa trabahong caregiver.
Tumawag employer ko sa officer explaining her and my side, 6 months na syang naghahanap ng anim na caregivers pero di matiis ng mga new zealanders ang pagod at nurse daw ako but willing to do the job. Nagkainitan sila ng officer dahil gusto nya talaga akong i-hire.
I dont know what to do now, the officer is asking me more support infos para maconvince na wala talagang makuhang ibang new zealanders.
Deadline na next week, sakit na ng ulo ko.
Please help me.

Since a caregiver is not on the short term skill shortage list, you will have to have more documents to provide immigration. To give you a general idea click on this link:

http://www.immigration.govt.nz/migrant/stream/work/worktoresidence/caniworkinnz/accreditedemployersrequirements.htm

To add wellingtonianbuddys suggestion, your prospective employer could probably submit copies of the advertisements they have placed and give a detailed account of how many new zealanders they have interviewed for the job.

Hope this helps.

They gave me internet ads, local and national news paper ads and their invoice of temporary workers. She also gave me 2 letters explaining her failed attempts to hire locals. The owner and her daughters are doing everything and even adviced me to lodge my application yo the nursing council (i did) which they think may help.
I went to a consultant to ask for further assistance, im only 21 and i am broke but he said he is willing to help and then ill just pay when my permit arrives.
Nakakatulong ho ba talaga ang mga consultants?
It is my first time here and i dont want to go home thinking of all the sacrifices my parents did.
im panicking.

Thank you

sad to say na di nakakatulong ang mga consultants. kasi all they can do is help you file the visa, all the rest will depend on the VO and your docs.

Well you arrived in NZ on a visitors visa, sad to say na hindi na ganun kadali magpaconvert ng visitors visa/permit to a work permit because of the Essentials Skills New Policy...

Dont worry desperate , since RN ka naman me legal na paraan para makawork ka sa NZ..that is magregister ka sa Nursing Council...pero dapat me one year work experience ka, IELTS 7.0 in all bands and dapat 1st courser ka.

goodluck

I have a cousin in NZ and invited my wife and I to go there w/ Visit Visa. Once we're already there, we will apply for working visa & find a job there.

I am currently working as a Telecom Engineer for more than 5yrs and my wife is a Nurse w/ 3yrs experience.

Your advises and recommendation will be highly appreciated. God bless.

Maraming salamat!

if you can secure visitors' visa..go ahead..no harm in trying....

i would rather go for the SMC route, though. then visit nz whilst your application is under review.

cheers!

Thank you so much for the reply Buddy!

I'm looking for the faster, easier and cheaper way to move in NZ.
It seems that it takes time & money to process SMC.

Is there a good chance for us to acquire a working visa within the 59-day Visitor Visa status? (Esp for my wife who is a Nurse)

Thank you so much for the feedback.

is your wife a registered nurse? if she is, she can apply for a nz registration. i think there is a thread here regarding nursing council of new zealand. she can contact the nursing council for advice on how to get registered.

in you're on a vissitor's visa, you can easily convert it into work visa if you have a job offer which is in the shortage list.

so getting a work visa within the 59 day period will depend on how fast you can get that type of job.

be mindful though that many employers/recruiters normally stress in their job advert that applicants must have necessary work permit to apply.

we are advised to register my wife first in Nursing Council of NZ before going there.

Our main concern is if we can get a job within the 59-day period. We are going to put into risk our job and investment here in the Phil.

It's always indicated in jobsearch that "Applicants must be eligible to work in the specified location"

Thank you so much for the feedbacks.

Hi sarge707.

If your wife is registered with Nursing Council of New Zealand, it would not be a problem for her to look for a nursing job here in NZ.

But if she will be arriving here with no registration, and would be looking for a job within 59 days (visit visa, right?), I do not have any idea if she could be given a job offer related to her skills/profession. I am sure she has to process her registration first and she has to get her APC (annual practising certificate). If she is planning to apply for a caregiver position (just in case) I knew some Filipinos who entered NZ having visit visas and applied for caregiver positions and were given job offers. Unfortunately, their work permit applications were declined by INZ because the positions that were offered to them can be filled by unskilled citizen/residents.

In your case as Telecom engineer, I have a flatmate who entered NZ with visit visa and was offered a job and was given a two year work permit. He did not encounter much issues with his work permit application because his profession was on the skills shortage lists and does not require any form of professional registration.

Anyway, you can always extend your 59 day visit visa in case you won't meet your target.

wellingtonianbuddy,

Hi mate.
My husband and I arrived here in NZ on a visitor's visa. Luckily my husband has a job offer and he will lodge his work permit application soon after completing medical exams.
We would like to know if we also need to lodge our EOI now in order to gain perm.residency later or can we just lodge an application for PR later after say 3 months after he receives his work permit?
My husband is a civil engineer.

as applying for permanent residency takes time, it would be to your advantage to apply for work permit asap. If your husband's job is in the essential skills list - then you may consider applying for residence from work later on.

did the form specify that you should NOT include previous experience from companies that already closed?
