Sometimes we are fooled by what we hear, unless otherwise you finally see the real situation, then reality sinks in... I wont blame anyone of u who dreams of coming to NZ... sabagay NZ is being packaged very well... but tell me later when u get here that u wont feel the frustration and disillusionment... Hindi lang po ako nag iisa sa aking nararamdaman... lots of migrants from other countries whom i get to talk with and shared with the experiences! It takes time of course and admit it as well na iba iba ang level of tolerance and pace of adjustment ng bawat tao...

Missme, i am interested to join ur consultancy... my background is business mgt and been exposed to banking work (account management and credit review)... i dont mind the pay, ang importante malibang ako at may nakakausap at nakaka brainstorm. my NZ cp is 0211817240. text me so we can get connected... i live in west auckland

Good luck to all

As i could relate to the sentiment of Klarisse, I tend to dwell more on seeing the other side of coin --- The first time I was here in Auckland, I could barely stay for a month. ang hirap, in fact, im so used to my life in manila, invitation to parties, launches, ang daming gimmick, so i only stayed for two weeks...

then next, i said, i will stay longer, so i emmersed myself in NZ, ive investigated my job opportunity, even enrolled in a short course in a university, i checked out the education system, etc, i applied, got lucky with job offers/opportunities but am holding a senior post in manila already and earning really good with my advertising agency, but there is so much to see and experience...na - naexperience talaga ng taong malapit sa akin kapamilya, kaibigan at kakilala...
then, again, i went with my son, enrolled him in primary school, ina-analyse ko if he will have a hard time, and if he will like it...it turned out positive, meantime, i have sent CV's / Resume's, it wasnt easy, for someone na ang feeling ang galing-galing (hehehe, i guess most of us thinks that way) in my field, lunok ng laway (kung anu ka sa pinas, di ka boss, di ka sikat, lahat pantay-pantay), hirap lalo na kung conceited ka, there is a process that u need to understand, best of all, diretso ang tingin,
ako that time, paiba-iba rin, iwan anak balik pinas, hirap ata, i stayed focused listed down all the pros-cons....while being negative produces nothing i network ng sobra, gym, health clubs, professional associations, did voluntary work, etc...nag train mag isa, inikot ang lahat ng sulok, kumain ng kung anu-ano, then, i felt totally freeeeeeee.....no fear in walking, in letting my child go for a bike ride, talk to all sorts of people....

at the same time, studied everything, as in parang masteral, mas matindi pa sa UP at AIM ko, hehehe with the efforts, then waited for the right timing...eto....na...tiis lang...know what u want...and convince yourself more than anyone...then ang bala trust in someone mightier than u are...call it allah, buddha, master, diyos, bathala, lord, father....its our faith that will take us to places....

On the other note,
hay...naku...ive reserved the the name in NZ already...it is NZ Immigration Help Service Ltd. >>> Do It Yourself Immigration...

Thanks to those who already trusted me,
for others who are interested in knowing more txt 0064 21 1817228

to those who have prayed for me and the others, thank you po! i wont mention your names, rj, da-duck, ed, etc. kasi baka may mamiss ako. hehheh! joking aside, i first want to inform you that the interview is nothing to worry about. do a little research and leave the rest to Him.

the vo who interviewed me was the same vo who sent the invitation letter for the f2f interview in Bangkok. jpe was right. they are young! he began by asking me questions to verify if it was really me. he had a laptop in front of him from where he read the questions and typed my answers. The interview went for about 45 mins. It was over before I even realized it was over. Medyo nabitin ako. I had more things on my mind than what he asked from me. At the end of the session, the nagging question was: "Was I able to convince him enough to grant me a PR visa?" Because at this point, for all of us who have gone this far, you know you're in. It's just a matter of waiting for the kind of visa they'd give. But as my friend told me, "Either way is OK I guess." So I rest my case.

The following are the interview questions as I remember them. They are not necessarily in that order. Most questions are related. There are no right or wrong answers. They just want to know how well you know what you're getting into.

How are you going to apply your skills in NZ?
What do you think are the difficulties you'll encounter in finding work in NZ?
What challenges have you faced in your work in your own country?
Why did you choose NZ over other countries?
What made you decide to go to NZ?
What do you know about the living costs/labour market/climate in NZ?
In what region do you want to settle in? Why?
Do you have contacts in NZ? If you have friends, what kind? How close are you? How often do you communicate? What level of support can they extend to you? Do you have their contact nos.?
What have you done, will do to prepare yourself for a successful settlement in NZ?
What is your vital statistics? joke! joke! Laughing
and some other questions that apply to you personally.

I don't have to go into details regarding my answers but here are the strong points I got which I based on the reaction (i.e smile) of my vo. Im not sure though whether he smiled because he liked my answers or he found me silly or stupid Question

On why NZ: I enumerated my reasons. Lastly, I mentioned about their educational program for new immigrants (http://www.kiwi-ora.com).
On where in NZ: I made comparisons between regions, focusing on the region Im interested in. He smiled when I mentioned the Regional Labour Market Reports from the Dept of Labour website (http://www.dol.govt.nz/publications/lmr/lmr-regional.asp). Tip: you'll get +points if you choose regions outside Auckland.
On what I know about the climate, etc: Told him about the 4 seasons and when is the best time to go there.
On why emigrate: this really made him smile i think because i got silly. secret!

lastly, he asked if i have other information I'd like to add. i told him about my plan for the next 6 months before i leave for NZ.

btw, he didnt return my original documents because he's not through with the verification ek ek.

as to what happens next: he gave the standard answer. he said they'll decide in 2 months. and added it will be soon.

i hope i've been thorough. pm me if you want more info that can't be posted here.

thanks again for the prayers and support from the forum members!

i would like to address this question to Klarisse, and to those who are seriously contemplating to emigrate to other countries, not necessarily New Zealand:

WHAT DRIVES YOU?

there was this guy in the waiting room who made it his business to interrogate (such a harsh word. pardon me, mate!) other applicants while waiting for our respective visa officers. like a true-blue visa officer, he asked the millon dollar question: Why New Zealand?

even before anyone asked for his opinion he said that nz govt's health services are not really that good. in fact, according to mr. know-it-all, residents still end up getting private health insurance because of the long line in govt hospital services. mr. kia also informed everyone that a friend of his, right after being granted citizenship, returned to the phils.

i wondered what was his point in telling us all his negative views. what was he doing there in Bangkok in the first place?

To snooze, congratulations and i wish u the best... and re ur question what drives me? only one reason, to be with my kiwi-husband and to give NZ a try...

Ayaw ko nang mag comment abt NZ... i know ur feelings... ive been there before.. i also refused to listen to my kiwi husband abt the difficulties and hardships in NZ... u can only know the realities when u are in the situation and seeing things with open eyes. kung gaano ka bureaucratic and phil govt... ganun din ang NZ... mas myopic pa sila... narrow minded! and NZ people knows that... mismong taga WINZ, NZIS, career service, etc know their govt.

i know it will take time... im trying very hard to accept things, swallow my pride....lower my standards, ek ek...

good luck to all

To lanriv, snooze, and other people i've met through the internet, i look forward to meeting all of you in person.

To Klarisse, i'm saddened that you seem to have negative experiences here in nz. siguro talagang ganon, iba-iba ang ating mga experiences. may maganda, may pangit. and most often, when you have unpleasant experiences, you gravitate with people with the same experiences. you tell them your stories, your complaints, and then ganon din sila. eventually, lahat na lang ng maririnig mo puro complaints.

In my experience of 10 years here in nz, it was mostly pleasant. so i have no complaints. among my circle of friends here, lahat satisfied din sa buhay dito. i've lived in the US before i moved to auckland and i could say i like the lifestyle here much better.

Ang isa pang bagay na makaka-affect kung magugustuhan mo dito o hindi, ay ang buhay mo sa Pinas. if you already live a comfortable life in the Phil, may katulang ka, magandang job, etc, of course, if you move to nz, umpisa ka na naman. tapos lahat ng bagay ikaw ang gagawa. then may culture shock din, most especially siguro if you have a kiwi partner. eventually, baka ma-disiillusioned ka nga, because you expect everything to go your way.

ako, mababa siguro ang standards ko. sanay kasi ako sa hirap sa atin e.

What drives me....

- to have a brand new life...
- to have a better life....
- to finally fulfill my dreams
- just to get out of this country....

Dont get me wrong guys...I am a Nationalist...my heart will always belong to the Philippines. But I am tired of the poverty, the failures, the never-ending crisis, the CORRUPTION, the endless politicking, the joblessness....the deadend of dreams...just too tired of it all... Crying or Very sad we all deserve better...our hard work deserve better compensation! They say...the Philippines can export everything under the sun...too bad its also exporting its human resources now....pretty soon, it will have none.

God bless everyone!

RITA

To Jhsay...youre right! We need that kind of service! At dapat lang wag na tayong "magpayaman" pa ng iba diba? We should learn how to help each other at walang "kanya-kanya" Wink Great idea!

Totoo ang sinabi ni MissMe about "lunok ng laway". kailangan kang mag-adjust dito. hindi komo manager ka sa atin, you expect the same post here. in fact, kung ako ang tatanungin ngayon, ayoko pa ngang maging manager dito dahil sakit lang ng ulo yon. anyway, as a rank ang file employee hindi naman malayo ang kinikita ko sa mga managers. yung lang ang kagandahan dito. you don't have to be a manager to live a good life. halos pantay-pantay lang.

tama di ang sinabi ni Klarisse. compared sa manila, malungkot dito. but that is if you equate happiness with parties, malls, happenings, shopping. nz is more a family-centric, hindi barkada-centric. kung nandito ka kasama mo pamilya mo at masaya kayong nagkakasama-sama, ano pa hahanapin mo di ba?

but i do understand especially single people coming here. malulungkot nga sila.

jhsay, maganda yung suggestion mo. yaan mo i'll post a few more write ups in my blog to help new migrants. tulad nga ng sinabi mo kung saan makakabili ng mamasita.

Very Happy
