Hello there,

I'm still here in the Philippines.
My assessment from an Immigration consultant here in Ortigas is 105 points.
Do you think I should try or forget about the idea?
I really wanted to go overseas for a job.

Hi garen!

As a new member of the foru you should read the thread entitled, "FOR NEW MEMBERS" that should get you started. Additionally, you can visit the official NZIS website at www.immigration.govt.nz this is where you can get the most credible, up-to-date information regarding NZ immigration.

Now regarding your assessment. I think you should continue researching about immigrating to NZ, but wait until the passmark changes. I am sorry to inform you that right now you have very little chance getting selected. I am in the same predicament and I chose to wait-it-out until things get better.

CIAO!

Hi ArchiLinux,

Thank you.
By the way, what is the passmark now ?
You've mention little chance of getting selected. Is this selection from EOI ?

Thanks again.

hi gfgaren!

actually, the qualifying point is still 100 but those with 140 points will be automatically selected. the method of selection is that, EOIs will be arranged from the highest points claimed, say 140 will be on top then the next higher points and so on. so those with the lower points claimed have lesser chances to be selected.

that's why, if you are claiming 105, you need a job offer to increase your points.

please check also the thread on the latest EOI selection.

Hi Jenni,

My boss was selected from the EOI. She had 100 points and does not have a job offer.
What factors could have been considered ?

Thanks. Smile

TIME. She might havelodged her EOI sometime in 2005 when the passmark was only 100. I must admit I missed that opportunity also Sad. But do not fret, it will happen again! Keep your hopes up.

gfgaren,

why don't you try to submit your EOI? is the university you graduated from recognized by nzqa? if yes, you can submit your EOI soon as you can. if most of the EOIs submitted have at least the same points as you have, you might be lucky to be selected when you don't expect it.

It might not be a good idea for him jenni. The cost of lodging the application is not cheap. Besides, although the passmark is still at 100 three "special criteria" are in place if your points are below 140 and above 100.

1/ You have a valid job offer.
2/ You have experience or qualification in an area of absolute shortage.
3/ You can qualify if you are over 100 and none other applicant hitched the first two mentioned.

Batting on the probability on qualifying by number 3 criterion above is a luxury. If you review all the EOI selection reports since January (I can be wrong) none of which mentioned EOIs selected base on criterion 3.

So, why bother?
