Hi to all,
Im new in this forum, the status of my application is that im now waiting for the sked of my interview under VO Ms Rita Martin. Ms Martin told me that after reviewing my papers, she found out that i just got 90 points from 125 points im claiming. She recommends that i should be re assessed again by nzqa. Is she referring to PAR? At what stage an applicant need a full assessment? One thing more i want to seek an advice from sampang consultancy. Does anyone knows his address and contact nos? Pls help me. Im already depressed with my application. TYVM |

Hi Kim,
We have the same VO although I'm sorry to say that I am not really very familiar with the current process of NZQA. For the address of Sampang,I just sent you an e-mail.
Regards,
Maris |

How do you arrived at 125 points? We cannot possibly help you explain until you will tell us how you arrived at 125 points. Am already here in Auckland, and I had helped some friends about how to apply here in auckland advsing how to get the 100 points (the passmark before). You might have mistaken in putting 125 points instead of 90 only, thats why your visa officer advised you to have full assessment of your education. My visa officer was also Rita Martin and so far we arrived at the same points. Please email me directly using my email address so I can give you some advice.

Hi block5lot4! I have not filed my EOI yet. I am a chemist and my profession is on the Immediate and Long Term Skills Shortage List. However, I did not see it on the Absolute Skills Shortage List. Is it okay if I still claim bonus points for my profession?
Another thing is I am a chemist and my work mainly involves drug analysis. We make use of analytical instruments to do analyses and I believe that my work falls under analytical chemistry. The one the is on the Skills Shortage List is Analytical Chemist. Can I consider myself an Analytical Chemist? Nde ba ako magkakaproblema dun? Please help me. Thank you! |

Hi neferti,
I am an analytical chemist too. I am the principal applicant and I lodged our EOI on May 05 where I claimed for 105 points. Fortunately we were given an ITA before the new policy took effect though now we will be given only 6 mo. visa as we have lodge only after Dec.21. I did not claim any points for my husband's qualification, btw.
Analytical chemist is included in the immediate shortage list but not in the long term shortage list thus you cannot claim for bonus points for it. If you have a partner, it would be better if you include your partner's qualification in order for you to claim a higher point.
All the best in your application.

Hi Kim,
So how's it going? Though Im not trying to stop you from getting the services of an agency I hope you could give details on why you were stripped off on your points. Maybe the group can be of help to you.

Hi tine_dg! Thank you very much for your reply. The Analytical Chemist is in the Long Term Skills Shortage List. I am sure of that caused I checked it before I registered here. Yes I am planning to claim points for my husband's qualifications.
Have you already lodged your ITA? I hope that you will be interviewed. God Bless my co-profession!
Would you advise that I take the NZQA first before I lodge my ITA? Okay lang ba yun? Thank you! |

Hi tine_dg! I double-checked again the Long Term Skill Shortage List. You're right, the Analytical Chemist is not there. Perhaps I have mistaken it with the shortage list of Australia.
At what stage are you now? I have read in one of the previous posts that you have already lodged your ITA. Have you been interviewed by your visa officer already?
Thanks! |

Tine_dg! Sorry, all the answers to my questions are in your posts, I did not notice. Hehehe I think my eyes got tired already because I have been surfing the net since early morning.
So congrats! You already got your visa? That's nice! Why is it 6 months only? What is the problem if lodging was done after December 21? Are you in New Zealand right now? Is that a WTR or a tourist visa?
Thank you! |

Hi neferti,
We have not been interviewed yet. We're still waiting for our schedule. The reason why I know that we will be getting a 6 months work to residence visa (that is assuming of course that our application is successful!) is because of the change in the immigration policy. They used to give 2 years but successful applications received before Dec 21 will be given only 6mos.
In case you want more info on the policy changes check this link:
http://www.immigration.govt.nz/migrant/general/generalinformation/news/SMCDec05Changes.htm
Regarding your question on whether you should have your qualifications assessed by NZQA depends whether your schools are included in the List of Recognized Qualification. Some schools included in the list though require that you have an average of 85% or more but if you have a five year course, you will not be required this average. I suggest that you get a look at the list so you may understand exactly what I mean or you may write in this post what school did you go to and we will gladly answer whether you would need an NZQA or not. |

Hi tine_dg! Ok, I understand. Yes I have already reviewed the list and my school PUP is not included there. I have to undergo PAR or NZQA whichever I prefer most but I am planning to take NZQA. I know PAR would be advisable since I am still at the beginning stage but in the end, I think NZQA would still be beneficial on my part.
You mean if they are going to issue you a WTR visa you can only use it for 6 months? Does it mean that within 6 months and you have proven to them that you have work that is related to your qualifications and that you are earning the income that they require you to have they will grant you a permanent residence visa? Parang you don't have to wait for two years to apply? If that is the case then I think it won't be that difficult to find a job within 6 months once you're there, right?
If you don't mind, can I ask if you already have a job offer?
I am on the process of completing all my documents (transcript and diploma). I am enrolled to a graduate study right now and I submitted my original TOR to the University where I am enrolled, which is UP and so I am now requesting that they give it back to me again including a copy of my updated graduate TOR. As with my Diploma, there is something in it that needs to be corrected. All in all, it's going to take two months before I can submit my EOI-an ample time for me to research more about immigration. I want to be assessed first before I lodge my EOI. I hope by that time you will already have your visa, I wish you luck!
By the way, I have a question, if I am not mistaken (I have to check this again), I have read my husband's profession in the Long Term Skill Shortage List (Engineers, major in computer). He is a computer engineer and graduated from UP Diliman. Can I claim bonus points for him? However, in terms of work experience, mas mahaba ako sa kanya and my work is related to what I have finished. This is the reason why I am the principal applicant. In his case naman, he is computer engineer but there are portions of his work experience wherein he didn't work as a computer engineer. For example, right now, he is working as a software engineer and he told me that in their field, software engineering is not done by Com Engs but by Com Sci grads. Pero in my opinion, related yun sa course niya di ba? What do you think? Di ba anything naman that is related to the degree you have earned is accepted?
Another question, whether he or me is the principal applicant pareho pa rin naman magiging total number of points nun di ba?
Thank you so much tine_dg! My post is so long, I have so many inquiries, sorry. |

Hi Neferti,
Kinda overwhelmed with your questions. It's like a deja vu for me when I was still starting to find my way in filling up our EOI.
First and foremost, check mo muna itong post ni myrna gonzalez from another thread. Very comprehensive na to and it will answer lots of your questions. http://www.backpack-newzealand.com/nz/article879.php
Regarding dun sa question mo sa duration ng visa, medyo komplikadong sagutin kung talagang di ka pa fully immersed sa proseso.
Pag nag-apply ka under the skilled migrant category, you're actually applying for a Permanent Resident (PR)Visa. Kaya lang, sa halos lahat ng pagkakataon, they will grant us (Pinoy applicants and other asians)Work to Residence (WTR) permit pag wala kang job offer which is convertible to a PR naman if you have an evidence of a permanent skilled employment for three months in NZ. Before Dec.21, 05 they use to give 2 years WTR so that means they would have two years to find a permanent skilled employment and they can at any given time during that two years to apply for a PR. but applicants after Dec 21 are only given 6 mos. to find a job dahil kundi, goodbye NZ na. Sana nga magdilang anghel ka at magkajob-offer lahat tayo bago magexpire ang 6 mo. visa na mas matagal pa ang pagbubuno at paghihintay para lang makuha.
On whether your husband's qualification matches his occupation, you can check the following link. http://www2.stats.govt.nz/domino/external/web/carsweb.nsf/94772cd5918085044c2567e6007eec2c/ef7c87fcece9546ccc2568c40000836e/$FILE/NZSCO991.pdf
I took a look on your query and i think we share the same opinion na related yung qualification ng husband mo with his job. Iprint mo siguro yung concordance(found at the end of the document) then aralin nyo yung mga job description for your guidance. Mas ok talaga kung marerelate nyo yung job ng husband mo with his qualification. Hindi mo nabanggit kung anong course and job mo.
Siguro masasagot yung huling question mo na kung sino dapat ang maging principal applicant by checking sa skilled migrant points indicator.
Tama ka, kailangan kang magpa NZQA for both your undergrad and masteral studies for you to be able to maximize your points potential. Pagkaintindi ko magagamit mo din yun eventually sa pagapply mo ng work.
Di mo na siguro kailangan bawiin sa UP yung TOR mo kase copy na nila yun. You can secure a new one from PUP uli. Pwede namang magrequest kahit ilang copy di ba?
Wala pa akong job offer pero hopefully magkaroon.
Wish you the best also
Cheers,
Christine |

Hello tine_dg! How are you? Its been a long time since I haven't visited here. Kamusta? Have you already received your visa? I got very busy with my studies and at the same time with the processing of all my documents, naayos ko na din lahat. I'm just waiting for my transcript at UP to be released.
Tine_dg, perhaps it will be my husband who will be the principal applicant nalang kc he's from UP and his documents are already complete. Yung sa akin kasi aantayin ko pa. Para makepag-proceed na kami sa application.
Kamusta ka na? You're just waiting for your interview with the VO the last time di ba? Na-interview ka na ba?
I may be able to reply this summer coz its sem break already and I am whole-heartedly available the whole vacation except only next week coz we're all going out of town. Take care and hope to hear from you again. God Bless You! |

Yea, it's been a while. Well, di pa ganun katagal na dapat me visa na ako ngayon. he he. I just got an email from the visa officer allocated to me saying that our sched of interview will be on May 10. I just posted in another thread when I saw your post.
I just hope your application will go smoothly and of course swiftly.
Hope to hear from you again.
