Hi,
I wanted to know if the location of a camping car was really interesting, especially since I planed to tramp two or three 4-days treks.
Would you recommend any specific trekking ? any island where location of a camping car make things a lot easier compared to bus?
Can we stop and sleep every where with the camping car or are we requested to drop by camping zones?
Are bus schedule relatively good to visit NZ with bagpack (we have only 20 days)? and finally, are there any treks more accessible by bus?
Thanks |

from the looks of it you can get to great spots, and fantastic walks with new zealands fairly extensive range of bus services. If you're doing the driving yourself, however you have alot more freedom and can get to some of the less crowded spots...
if you are planing to do a LOT of tramping, it maybe best to use the busses because you end up paying per day for your campervan to sit in a parking space
there are heaps of bus companies to choose from, and there seems to be pretty frequent trips to everywhere - have a look at the transport page on the site http://www.backpack-newzealand.com/articles/topic122.php
I'm not sure which tramps are more or less bus serviced, thats a gary question, but i have a feeling most of the great walks have buses at each end... |

| "Can we stop and sleep every where with the camping car or are we requested to drop by camping zones?" In the South Island it is much easier to find places to park up (expecially the westcoast). The North Island councils seem to be much more anal and there are lots more "no camping signs". |
