I stood in the same area the picture was taken from. I also went up on Mt. John. This is a very beautiful area, also very friendly.

First time I was there, there was no car park. Last time I was there, there was 3 busses and I cicn't bother counting the private vehicles. Internet viewers; This is not a 'touched' image. This is how N.Z. used to be 30+ years back (minus car park). The South island is THE PLACE TO BE. Even the worst trips in the South, have never been without a smile.

Visited here in january 07. it is just amazing so tranquil. the colour of the water has to be seen to be believed. coming back nov 08.
