hello....Archi, i have applied to Newjobz.com and paid for the associate membership...then they have assessed my CV and now offering me to be in the member core...but their charging fee is too high us$3,500. Now i wanted to know too if everything is okay or this is another online scam.

Hi,
to Archi and Marichu - I used to lived in NZ. I am a Filipino too. I moved/work there back in 1989 (madali pa noon na makapasok) and currently residing here in Canada. Regarding applying or looking for work in NZ - i am not sure if the newjobz.com is legitimate - it looks legit with there website and others that they posted with it - my concern only is why they charge a fee for assessing your qualifications. Hmmm, maybe thay change the ruling in hiring people overseas - (btw - i am away from NZ for almost 6 years now) - but to be sure - check this website - www.jobstuff.co.nz - This site provides job description and qualification needed to be able to work in NZ. If you work in IT field try this one - www.it.jobstuff.co.nz - here you will find head hunters\agencies looking for workers locally and overseas. They provide links on how to get to NZ legally and with work permit. "WORK PERMIT" i would like to emphasize this one as many of our kababayans are willing to go as tourist in NZ and hoping that someone will hire them and help them stay legally. Without a work permit it will be very, very, very HARD to get a job. There are exceptions - if you are exceptionally good in your job and no qualified NZ citizen or resident can handle the particular profession that you are expert with - then there is a chance that you will be hired from within - but a very slim one. Hindi fruit picker na trabaho kundi professional "like what you are doing now back in the Philippines."
I know what you feel right now - kagaya ninyo rin ako noon - naghahanap ng magandang kinabukasan na hindi ko makita noon sa atin. But a piece of advice - Don't put money into recruiting firm - alam ko noon walang kumpanya sa NZ na kukuhanan ng pera ang aplikante - NZ is the exact ooposite of Pinas. If they want to hire you - kahit na nadiyan ka pa sa Pinas - they will pay for the upfront cost and will just deduct it from your salary once you get your job. Kagaya ko at ng marami pang ibang pinoy noon na pumunta sa NZ - wala kaming nilabas na pera - binawas na lang lahat kada suweldo mo. But again - that was 10 - 15 yeras ago. Baka naiba na ang processing nila.
Heto pa ang isang head hunter na Pilipino ang may ari - www.altasolutions.com - pwede ninyong i-email yan at magtanong regarding sa pag apply ng trabaho sa NZ.
Hope this helps.

thanks for the response. it will surely help us in our decision making. the reason that i was really looking to an option of getting a recruitment agency is that even our immigration consultant tells us that its really hard to get a residence visa without a job offer. the point system of nz really requires job offer. nevertheless i'll check the web site u gave.

If i may add, since you mentioned about how hard to get a resident visa without a job offer. THis is the classic "Catch 22" situation. And it doesn't stop there. Sometimes it happens also when you are looking for a job. No NZ experience no job. But how can you get NZ experience if they will not hire you? Don't be alarmed - this is common for immigrants to a new country. So what is the best way to enter and migrate to a new place - get a job offer first. Once you received this (work permit/visa) everything will fall into it's proper place.
here are more sites that you can visit to get more info about migrating/working in NZ.
http://www.immigration.govt.nz/ - there are lot's in here - I need to read it too - There are lot's of changes since i left. But this is a great site to start your research.
http://www.dol.govt.nz/ - department of labor - lot's of info also about working condition.
http://www.itanz.org.nz/ - this group will provide letter of support if you are in need of more points for your migration - "specifically for IT related jobs" I think.
http://www.workingin-newzealand.com/ - another site for job opps/ and other helpful tips about living in NZ.
Check these sites - it will be a huge help. It looks like that there are lot's of changes (migration law) made already since i first moved there. Points system does not exist before and immigration consultants are not needed then - so maybe i am not the right person telling you all this stuff - but i am only sharing my personal experience to whoever wants to migrate to AOTEAROA - the land of the long white cloud. Now after reflecting on all things that have been mentioned here - i wanted to go back to NZ again! I'm packing my things and I am going HOME!

Hi Steve,
Good on you. A question though arise from your posting
1. You mentioned that "they are working extremely hard to get you a residency" - I thought their job is to look for a job for you. (Their mission statement "Our job is to get YOU a job in New Zealand.") You (or they ?)are already talking about residency and you haven't had a firm job offer? Kind a confusing, isn't it? Also, from their website "FAQ" they mentioned this ---
"Are you an Immigration Agent?
We work alongside a number of Immigration Agencies rather than attempting to provide the specialist service they provide so well. "--- So it clearly stated that they are not an immigration agent/office to handle residency/immigration issues - they work along with the professionals.
So what type of service they provide then? - They are again as mentioned in their web site -- "Our proven reputation for Recruitment and Job Placement within New Zealand is already well accepted and we believe you can benefit by utilising our experience, contacts and local knowledge." -- They area a Job/Recuitment placement company.
And we all knew what they do. They look for a company that is hiring with the set of skills you got and forward your resume/CV. If it match and the company is willing to interview you while you are outside of NZ - that is awesome. But remember it will be the interviewer not Newjobz who will give you that job offer to get a work permit. They are the middleman/broker. You use them you pay them. This is a good way for people who are busy and have the money to pay newjobz to do the research for them. But if you find time to surf this page/discussion site, i think you have time to do it on your own - which is the other alternative that i am telling the other people who open this discussion. That is why I wrote all the websites (two previous e-mail) that i think can help them and do themselves the work that newjobz is offering.
If you read my previous e-mail, i mentioned that probably they change the way they do their recruiting from the time i moved to NZ to present day. But by reading through those websites and the position posted, you can do it on your own. Of course you might need an immigration consultant for other stuff - but your main focus here is to get an interview first - and we know once you pass the interview and get that job offer - the ball will keep on rolling until you achieve what you want. Whichever way you choose - by yourself or newjobz, hopefully all of you will be succesful in looking for a job in NZ. But again going back to my first e-mail - why pay for it if you can do it?
Cheers!!!

Hi J
I must disagree with you, I have been trying to immigrate for over four years now, I have used the standard proceedure you have suggested, I have even been to New Zealand on two occasions with a view to secureing that illusive job !!!!
Newjobz is for me a last resort, I cant see how i can loose, Yes, Ive paid a lot of money, but, if they dont get me a job within 120 days of my signing up I get a FULL refund, that is in black and white.
To answer your question more fully with regards to why I was willing to pay them, well its quite simple really, they (Newjobs) and Keith Lightfoot are part of McCann who are a well established recruitment agency in New Zealand, they DO have the contacts, Newjobs have already Thoroughly interviewed and tested me on my skills, it is because of this that potential employers will listen to Newjobz where they wouldnt listen to me, I would be considered a risk. I do have the time to trawl the internet, and apply for upteen jobs in New Zealand, but it has never worked for me in the four years I have been trying.
Like i said previously, if you wish, I will keep this thread posted as to progress or otherwise
Regards
Steve
