i stayed at decco around mid february of 2002. it was a great atmostphere and i really loved the town. best view of the mountains and lake from the backyard while i ate dinner.

Having just experienced the worst attitude ever from a hostel I say give deco backpackers a wide berth. A charming website betrays an appaling manner I consulted when attempting to make a booking earlier today 31-01-04. Indifferent, inconsiderate and plain rude.
stay elsewhere and truly enjoy your stay in queenstown.

Ed's right the guy who runs this place is a idiot,before he answers the phone(which could be you)he swears alot obviously not wanting your buisness.He also encourages the single ladies to use his shower at his home(across road) creapy!

As requested, I sent a fax detailing my reservation in January 2004. No response so shortly before my stay, I sent an email requesting my reservation be confirmed. No response. When I rang up, the response was they don't have time to answer emails. My single room, NZ$50 was hopeless - opposite, new showers from where bright light 24hrs shone through thin curtains. As at 19 April 2004 the place was a construction site - from many accounts the Queenstown YHA is infinitely better.

Reasonable location, but very rude staff, amble facilites but dirty and poorly maintained. You really don't get value for money here. I will never return to this hostel. Avoid like the plague!
