The Beachouse Backpacker's is a relaxing place to hang out and enjoy the beautiful sandy beaches and interesting coastal fauna and flora which is just a few meters away. A cosy open plan, native timber hostel with a small dormitory, 2 doubles, a twin and a single room. There are also 2 large covered outdoor BBQ areas one with panoramic views of the East Cape and the active volcano White Island.

I stayed there in January 2001 - 4 days instead of the planned 2! It was one of the best places I visited in NZ. Gorgeous beach (although I almost drowned in a riptide), good talk with Steve (and the best coffee down under), relaxed people around, cosy nights in the green caravan. Don't miss it!

This place is amazing! I recommend it to all my friends who are travelling around the East Coast. The location is spectacular, everything is clean and comfy, and the owners really go the extra mile - surf kayaks and boogie boards you can borrow for free, and home-made bread and jam in the mornings for breakfast. If you're travelling the East Coast at all, definitely stop in here. If you're not - head there anyway for a weekend away, it's fantastic!!
