I have stayed here three different times with a friend on our way around New Zealand over the month of July, it is excellent EXCEPT on the our last night we stayed in room 8 or 9 (think it was 8, the one without the t.v.) and have been bitten by bed bugs "yuck" all over us. I had to go to the doctors once in NZ and again since I have returned to the UK and two weeks on still have the bites to prove it, it is summer here and I am stuck with long sleeves and long pants because they look so bad!
Added by admin: I have worked at a few hostels around the country and all of them have had problems with bed bugs at one time or another. They are carried from place to place on peoples backpacks, sleeping bags etc. I am sure that Go Global have since dealt with the problem.

Stayed here in June 03. Pretty good vibe to it. We were traveling with Kiwi experience and were told that all the hostels are pretty basic in Taupo and that Go Global was amoung the best. Stayed in a 4 bed room which had plenty of room and we had an ensuite bathroom.
Don't forget to try out the round pool table in reception. If you are missing cues, try using the stools. Hours of fun!!

stayed Jan04 and we all hated the hostel. Kitchen was gross, room was nasty when went back through taupo didnt stay and would never stay again.

Really nice staff, I felt right at home, they must have changed the Kitchen coz it's really big now and the outside area on the roof was really relaxing. Rooms are old but clean and big with there own bathrooms and theres a bath.

I stayed at go global in feb 2006 and really enjoyed my time there they have changed alot since i was there in 2003
All the Staff were very helpful, everything was clean and with the big bbq deck now it was awesome for summer i would definately recommend this backpackers for your next stay in Taupo i will be hopefully coming back in early 2008 to look for a job hopefully i can stay again

Awesome Place, Right in Town! I didnt have to walk far to get anywhere cause it was at the doorstep!
They are doing some renovating at the moment, the rooms are fairly old but they are clean and cheap

Awesome place,stayed with my mates in a 4 bed dorm had our own bathroom which i havent come accross yet in other backpackers. Doing some renovations at the moment ,awesome atmosphere staff were very helpful. Organised a trip to the snow for us.
