Wasn't too impressed with Stonehurst. They seemed pretty anal about key deposits and filling forms. The TV room was really pokey and the maze of corridors just confuses tired travellers.

Hardly any backpacker who has stayed here has had a good thing to say about this place.The staff are woeful and generally regard you as scum, their attitude is "we are still a hotel you know"(but want your money) one to be avoided at all costs.

The staff took forever to book me into a room which was annoying b/c we were all so tired. Very clean. Office staff were rude.

Excellent place to stay! The staff fell over themselves backwards to help out where they could - even going so far as to lend me personal mobile phones to call back for jobs when the main phones were tied up. Great big TV Screens for when you're broke, with cable and movies, cleans rooms, well equipped kitchen. By far the best hostel I stayed in over 5 months in NZ!! Thanks guys!

Some of the staff are really rude specially one of the female staff could make the customer feel really uncomfartable.I don't think I will go back there again.

Stonehurst was great, would recommend to other travellers. Very clean, friendly helpful staff, location was great with only a short walk into the centre of the city. Facilities were fabulous and the beds are the best - so so comfy. Great great place!!!!!!!!!!

Disagree with some of these comments - would help if the date was put on because I'm sure things change. I stayed for 2 nights and had a fantastic time - very very clean, a lot of thought put into the facilities and the staff were fab - their front desk and their housekeeping. Maybe I didn't meet the rogue female staff member, but from what I saw, the other staff wouldn't put up with it anyway! Would highly recommend - also very close to the city and bars.
